Blender’s Notes Diabetes Support ~ Micro-Nutrition:
Steep Me Micro-Nutrition combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits of different combinations of Vitamins and Minerals. This combination of herbs helps the body balance blood sugars and other ancillary side effects that can come with the diabetes diagnosis. This blend will also help with overall body circulation, respiratory health, and capillary volume. There are vitamins and minerals included to help slow the breakdown of carbs, increase health of the immune system, and help to moderate the glucose and insulin processes. What is Diabetes? Diabetes is a condition that happens when your blood sugar (glucose) is too high. It develops when your pancreas does not make enough insulin or any at all, or when your body is not responding to the effects of insulin properly. Diabetes affects people of all ages. Most forms of diabetes are chronic (lifelong), and all forms are manageable with medications and/or lifestyle changes. Glucose (sugar) comes from carbohydrates in your food and drinks. It is your body’s go-to source of energy. Your blood carries glucose to all your body’s cells to use for energy. When glucose is in your bloodstream, it needs help — a “key” — to reach its destination. This key is insulin (a hormone). If your pancreas is not making enough insulin or your body is not using it properly, glucose builds up in your bloodstream, causing high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). Over time, having consistently high blood glucose can cause health problems, such as heart disease, nerve damage and eye issues. The technical name for diabetes is diabetes mellitus. Another condition shares the term “diabetes” — diabetes insipidus — but they are distinct. They share the name “diabetes” because they both cause increased thirst and frequent urination. Diabetes insipidus is much rarer than diabetes mellitus. There are several types of diabetes. The most common forms include Type 2 diabetes: With this type, your body does not make enough insulin and/or your body’s cells do not respond normally to the insulin (insulin resistance). This is the most common type of diabetes. It affects adults, but children can have it as well. Prediabetes: This type is the stage before Type 2 diabetes. Your blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be officially diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes: This type is an autoimmune disease in which your immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in your pancreas for unknown reasons. Up to 10% of people who have diabetes have Type 1. It is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, but it can develop at any age. Gestational diabetes: This type develops in some people during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes usually goes away after pregnancy. However, if you have gestational diabetes, you are at a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later in life. Too much glucose circulating in your bloodstream causes diabetes, regardless of the type. However, the reason your blood glucose levels are high differs depending on the type of diabetes. Causes of diabetes include Insulin resistance: Type 2 diabetes results from insulin resistance. Insulin resistance happens when cells in your muscles, fat and liver do not respond as they should to insulin. Several factors and conditions contribute to varying degrees of insulin resistance, including obesity, lack of physical activity, diet, hormonal imbalances, genetics, and certain medications. Autoimmune disease: Type 1 diabetes and LADA happen when your immune system attacks the insulin-producing cells in your pancreas. Hormonal imbalances: During pregnancy, the placenta releases hormones that cause insulin resistance. You may develop gestational diabetes if your pancreas cannot produce enough insulin to overcome the insulin resistance. Other hormone-related conditions like acromegaly and Cushing syndrome can also cause Type 2 diabetes. Pancreatic damage: Physical damage to your pancreas — from a condition, surgery, or injury — can impact its ability to make insulin, resulting in Type 3c diabetes. Genetic mutations: Certain genetic mutations can cause MODY and neonatal diabetes. Long-term use of certain medications can also lead to Type 2 diabetes, including HIV/AIDS medications and corticosteroids. Diabetes: What It Is, Causes, Symptoms, Treatment & Types
In this combination we added our Steep Me Chromium Blend which is a well-documented mineral that can help prevent and help with controlling blood sugar levels in existing diabetes. Chromium helps to regulate insulin production, thereby reducing and stabilizing blood sugar. Individuals with Type II diabetes naturally have lower levels of chromium in their bodies than those who do not have diabetes. Magnesium is another quite versatile mineral. It is required by the human body for everything from the production of protein and DNA, to breaking down fat for fuel. Most used as a supplement to help alleviate constipation or anxiety, it is also beneficial for healthy blood sugar. In patients with type 2 diabetes, one study found that magnesium supplements significantly reduced insulin resistance and improved blood sugar control. We added Zinc because it is an important mineral that provides many benefits for the body. The main function of zinc is for energy, cell production, protein synthesis, and development. It is critical for insulin management and is an antioxidant. Zinc also helps improve A1C levels. Individuals with diabetes have reduced levels of zinc in their blood, so supplying the body with additional zinc is essential. Steep Me Vitamin B Blend was included because it can help improve how your cells use glucose. This can lead to better blood sugar levels. Vitamin B deficiency is closely related to glucose intolerance and reduced insulin production, so it is important to increase your Vitamin B intake. High-dose injections of Vitamin B have been shown to relieve pain related to diabetic nerve damage.
In addition, Calcium was added because it is the most abundant mineral in the body and is beneficial for many processes in the body and could help reduce diabetes risk by up to 33 percent. Ginseng has showed a significant improvement in hemoglobin A1C after 12 weeks. Other studies have shown a slight improvement in insulin sensitivity, lower fasting blood glucose, and reduced blood sugar after meals. We added Selenium because it is an antioxidant that is well-known for gut and thyroid health, but studies have shown it is also beneficial for blood sugar control. Vitamin E was added to improve glucose control and helps to protect blood vessels and nerves from free-radical damage. Some studies have also shown that high doses of vitamin E may even reverse diabetic nerve damage, along with reducing risk for diabetes related cataracts and arteriosclerosis. And Finally, Steep Me Mushroom Blend contains mushrooms that have excessive amounts of Antioxidants ~ Antioxidants help protect the body from damaging free radicals that can cause conditions like heart disease and cancer. They also protect you against damage from aging and boost your immune system. Mushrooms are rich in an antioxidant called selenium. In fact, they are the best source of minerals in the produce aisle. Beta glucan ~ Beta glucan is a form of soluble dietary fiber that has been strongly linked to improving cholesterol and boosting heart health. It can also help your body regulate blood sugar, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Oyster and shiitake mushrooms are believed to have the most effective beta glucans which we have included. B vitamins ~ Mushrooms are rich in the B vitamins: riboflavin, niacin, and pantothenic acid. The combination helps protect heart health. Riboflavin is good for red blood cells. Niacin is good for the digestive system and for maintaining healthy skin. Pantothenic acid is good for the nervous system and helps the body make the hormones it needs. Copper ~ Copper helps your body make red blood cells, which are used to deliver oxygen all over the body. The mineral is also important to other processes in the body, like maintaining healthy bones and nerves. Potassium ~ Potassium is extremely important when it comes to heart, muscle, and nerve function.
