Blender’s Notes Electrolytes ~ Hydrator ~ Pure ~ High Nutrition ~ Micro-Nutrition:
Steep Me Micro-Nutrition combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits from different combinations of Vitamins and Minerals. With this blend we are providing a healthy and potent blend of herbs and vitamins to help the body with proper hydration and balancing the electrolytes in the system. What are Electrolytes? Electrolytes are substances that have a natural positive or negative electrical charge when dissolved in water. An adult’s body is about 60% water, which means every fluid cell in your body contains electrolytes. They help your body regulate chemical reactions, maintain the balance between fluids inside and outside your cells, and more. Your body gets electrolytes or their components from what you eat and drink. Your kidneys filter excess electrolytes out of your body and into your urine. You also lose electrolytes when you sweat. Your cells use electrolytes to conduct electrical charges, which is how your muscles contract. Those same electrical charges also help with chemical reactions, especially when it comes to hydration and the balance of fluids inside and outside of cells. The key principle that electrolytes rely on is that certain chemical elements can naturally hold a positive or a negative electrical charge. When those elements are dissolved in a liquid, that liquid can then conduct electricity. An example of this is salt water, which conducts electricity easily. Salt consists of sodium (positively charged) and chlorine (negatively charged), and when combined, their charges balance each other out. Atoms with an electrical charge are called ions (positive ions are called cations, while negative ions are called anions). Dissolving salt in water splits the sodium and chlorine atoms apart, which means they go back to being positively and negatively charged. Electricity jumps between the sodium and chlorine ions — not the water molecules — because they have opposite electrical charges. At the most basic chemical level, electrolytes help your body maintain balance. Just like electricity uses ions to travel from place to place in salt water, your body uses ions to transport chemical compounds in and out of cells. Electrolytes: Types, Purpose & Normal Levels
Why Are Electrolytes So Important? When the kidneys are functioning properly, they can regulate concentrations of these vital minerals, in conjunction with fluid levels in the body. As we go about the day, and particularly when we exercise, much of the body’s precious fluids (and mineral electrolytes) are lost. We can also lose these vital salts through urination, vomiting, going to the bathroom (especially diarrhea), and through the liquid content of wounds. When we sweat, we are particularly apt to lose the minerals sodium, potassium, and chloride. This is why athletes are so concerned with replenishing electrolytes after a strenuous workout. In fact, all the major fluids of the body require substantial amounts of potassium to function, and 90% of the body’s potassium lies within the cellular walls. For this reason, it is essential to replenish these electrolytes daily through intake of clean fluids and foods. When we expend sweat and lose these vital minerals, we need to replenish, not only with water but with minerals. If we combine intake of fluids with electrolytes, we will hydrate quicker, as water follows electrolytes. Moreover, taking in electrolytes like sodium reduces the amount of water lost in urination, allowing the fluids to be more readily absorbed back into the muscles, tissue, and nerves.
What are the diverse types of electrolytes in your body? The main electrolytes in your body include:
- Bicarbonate, which helps maintain the body’s acid and base balance (pH). It also plays a significant role in moving carbon dioxide through bloodstream.
- Calcium, which helps make and keep bones and teeth strong.
- Chloride, which also helps control the amount of fluid in the body. In addition, it helps maintain healthy blood volume and blood pressure.
- Magnesium, which helps your muscles, nerves, and heart work properly. It also helps control blood pressure and blood glucose (blood sugar).
- Phosphate, which works together with calcium to build strong bones and teeth.
- Potassium, which helps your cells, heart, and muscles work properly.
- Sodium, which helps control the amount of fluid in the body. It also helps your nerves and muscles work properly.
In this blend we based it off two important salts – Gray Salt and Himalayan Sea Salt. Gray salt—also known as sel gris or Celtic Sea salt is a mineral-rich, unrefined salt that offers several health benefits, especially when it comes to maintaining electrolyte balance and hydration. Gray salt contains essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium, which are key electrolytes that help regulate fluid balance, nerve function, and muscle contractions. These minerals help your body absorb and retain water more efficiently, making gray salt a fantastic addition to homemade electrolyte drinks—just mix a pinch with water, lemon, and honey. Electrolytes from gray salt aid in digestive enzyme production, which helps your body absorb nutrients more effectively. Besides helping maintain your electrolyte balance, it can help alkalize the body, reducing acidity and promoting overall wellness, it can draw out toxins and soothe sore muscles and rejuvenate the skin. We included Himalayan Sea Salt because it is often admired for its rosy hue and mineral-rich profile. While it still contains sodium, the presence of potassium and magnesium may help counterbalance sodium’s effects on blood pressure, making it a smarter choice for some people. Himalayan salt may help prevent dizziness and fatigue, especially in older adults or those recovering from sweat-heavy workouts and can help with electrolyte balance. Himalayan Sea Salt is rich in trace minerals, unlike regular table salt, Himalayan salt contains up to 84 trace minerals, including: Sodium – essential for fluid balance and nerve function ~ Potassium – helps regulate blood pressure and muscle contractions ~ Magnesium – supports muscle recovery and reduces cramps ~ Calcium – aids in bone strength and cellular signaling. Himalayan salt to water can enhance fluid absorption, especially after intense exercise or heat exposure. This is due to the glucose-sodium co-transport mechanism, which helps your body absorb water more efficiently. Vitamin C was also included because it plays a powerful supporting role in hydration and electrolyte balance. Vitamin C can improve the absorption of certain minerals like iron and magnesium, which are key electrolytes involved in muscle function and hydration. It helps reduce oxidative stress and supports muscle recovery, which can minimize fatigue during and after exercise. Vitamin C when combined with electrolytes like potassium and sodium in supplement powders enhances the overall effectiveness of hydration strategies. A strong immune system helps your body recover faster from dehydration or electrolyte imbalance caused by illness or intense physical activity and as a potent antioxidant, vitamin C shields cells from damage caused by free radicals, which can be elevated during dehydration or electrolyte depletion.
Next, we added Steep Me Potassium Blend. Steep Me Potassium Blend is a powerhouse when it comes to electrolyte health and it is classified as an electrolyte because it carries a positive electrical charge in water, which helps regulate many critical bodily functions. Potassium helps maintain the right amount of fluid inside your cells, while sodium manages fluid outside the cells. This balance is essential for hydration and cellular function. It supports muscle contractions—including your heart muscle. Low potassium can lead to cramps, weakness, or even arrhythmias. Potassium enables smooth communication between your brain, muscles, and organs by transmitting nerve impulses and it counteracts the effects of sodium, helping to relax blood vessel walls and lower blood pressure. A potassium-rich diet can reduce the risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Next, we added Steep Me Magnesium Blend. Steep Me Magnesium Blend is a powerhouse mineral when it comes to electrolyte balance and overall health. It is one of the body’s key electrolytes—alongside sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride—and plays a vital role in keeping your cells, muscles, and nerves functioning properly. The reason Magnesium is added to an all-natural and pure electrolyte blend is it helps regulate the movement of fluids in and out of cells, working in tandem with other electrolytes to keep hydration levels stable. It is essential for muscle contraction and relaxation. Low magnesium can lead to cramps, spasms, or even twitching. Magnesium helps transmit electrical impulses between nerves, which is crucial for everything from reflexes to brain function. Steep Me Magnesium blend helps maintain a steady heartbeat and supports cardiovascular health because we also added in our Steep Me Potassium Blend it can help to prevent imbalances that can cause fatigue, weakness, or arrhythmias. Magnesium participates in ATP synthesis—the energy currency of your cells—making it essential for sustained energy and endurance and vital to this electrolyte blend. Besides helping maintain your electrolyte balance, Magnesium can help with Blood Sugar Control, Mood Regulation, Sleep Quality, Inflammation and Anxiety. Next DHA Omega 3 was added because it plays a supportive role in maintaining the cellular environment where electrolytes do their job. DHA is a major structural component of cell membranes, especially in the brain and heart. Healthy membranes help regulate the movement of electrolytes in and out of cells, which is essential for nerve signaling and muscle contraction. Electrolytes like sodium and potassium are vital for nerve impulses and DHA improve membrane fluidity, which helps neurons transmit signals more efficiently. Chronic inflammation can disrupt electrolyte balance by affecting kidney function and cellular transport and DHA has anti-inflammatory properties that help maintain systemic balance. Electrolytes are crucial for heart rhythm and blood pressure, and DHA helps lower blood pressure and improve heart health, indirectly supporting electrolyte stability.
We also included our Steep Me Vitamin B Blend. Vitamin B is not about energy and metabolism—it also plays a subtle but significant role in supporting electrolyte balance, especially during physical activity. B vitamins function as cofactors for enzymes that regulate electrolyte transport and fluid balance which can help convert carbohydrates into energy and supports the function of electrolyte transport systems, which maintain fluid balance and prevent dehydration during exercise. B Vitamins also aid in amino acid metabolism and neurotransmitter synthesis while supporting sodium-potassium pumps, which are crucial for maintaining cellular hydration and electrolyte balance. Besides helping maintain your electrolyte balance, Vitamin B can help Support Nervous System & Brain Function, Immune Support and Aid is Red Blood Cell Formation. We also included Gynostemma. Gynostemma contains trace minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium—key electrolytes that help regulate fluid balance, nerve function, and muscle contractions. As an adaptogen, it helps the body respond to stress, which can reduce cortisol-related electrolyte imbalances caused by dehydration or adrenal fatigue. It supports cardiovascular health by promoting healthy blood pressure and circulation, which helps transport electrolytes efficiently throughout the body. Chronic inflammation can impair kidney function, which is vital for electrolyte regulation. Gynostemma’s anti-inflammatory compounds may help protect renal health and gypenosides and saponins found in gynostemma support mitochondrial function and cellular hydration, which are essential for maintaining electrolyte gradients across cell membranes. Finally, we added in Inositol. Inositol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that plays a key role in cellular signaling and metabolic processes. Inositol helps maintain the structure of phospholipids, which are crucial for electrolyte transport across cell membranes. It also improves insulin sensitivity can influence electrolyte balance, especially potassium and magnesium levels, which are affected by insulin activity. It acts as a secondary messenger in neurotransmitter pathways, which can influence hydration and electrolyte regulation through hormonal balance. By improving metabolic health, inositol may help the kidneys regulate sodium and fluid balance more efficiently. It can stabilize blood sugar and indirectly affect electrolyte levels, especially in people with PCOS or metabolic syndrome and healthy cell membranes and signaling can improve how cells manage water and electrolytes.
