Blender’s Notes Nausea:
Steep Me Self-Help combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. This combination of herbs helps to strong Nausea. Nausea is a queasy or uneasy sensation in the stomach that makes you feel as if you are about to vomit. It is a non-specific symptom that can be triggered by many things, including gastroenteritis (“stomach flu”), food poisoning, motion sickness, dehydration, morning sickness, chemotherapy, and even strong, off-putting smells. Nausea is often self-limiting and will resolve on its own without treatment. Nausea is an uncomfortable sensation in the back of the throat, middle of the chest, or top of your stomach. It is often accompanied by the urge to vomit but does not always lead to vomiting. The sensation may be dull and lingering or come on suddenly and severely. Although nausea is not painful, it can be debilitating if it is severe or persistent. Depending on the underlying cause, you may also experience ~ Dizziness ~ Lightheadedness ~ Burping ~ Upset or gurgling stomach ~ Middle chest pain ~ Heartburn ~ Difficulty swallowing ~ Increased salivation ~ A feeling of a lump at the back of your throat. Nausea is a complex sensation triggered by the stimulation of nerve receptors in various parts of the body. These signals are received by the dorsal brainstem, the part of the brain that processes sensory information from the gut and regulates reflexes like swallowing, gagging, and burping. Activation of the dorsal brainstem can cause gastric dysrhythmia in which muscles of the stomach move erratically and reverse the propulsion of the stomach contents toward the mouth. This, in turn, triggers nausea and vomiting. The abnormal activation of the dorsal brainstem involves one of four systems:
- Central nervous system: Increased pressure, infection, or irritation of the brain or surrounding membranes can stimulate the dorsal brainstem and provoke nausea. Extreme emotions like anxiety can do the same.
- Vestibular system: The dysfunction of the inner ear and/or the vestibulocochlear nerve both of which regulate balance—can lead to extreme dizziness and symptoms of nausea.
- Chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ): This is part of the dorsal brainstem that receives input from blood-borne drugs and hormones. Exposure to certain drugs or abnormal levels of hormones (like serotonin or dopamine) can trigger nausea.
- Peripheral pathways: These are nerve receptors that send warning signals to the dorsal brainstem if there is a problem in the gastrointestinal tract (such as toxins or obstruction) or other organ systems (such as the heart or liver).
Problems in the gastrointestinal (digestive) tract account for most of the nausea or vomiting episodes. Nausea: What Causes It and How to Treat It
In this blend we started with calming Chamomile. Chamomile contains compounds like bisabolol and chamazulene, which have anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties. These properties help relax the smooth muscles of the digestive tract, potentially reducing the feeling of nausea. We then added Fennel. Fennel contains a compound called anethole, which relaxes the digestive tract and reduces symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Fennel seeds are often used to alleviate digestive discomfort, including motion sickness, indigestion, and bloating. Cinnamon was added because it is packed with antiemetic and carminative properties that reduce the chances of feeling nauseated by stimulating the cells lining the stomach. It also improves digestion and calms the lining of the stomach. Cardamom because it has antiemetic properties, which can help with mild vomiting and nausea. It is more beneficial when vomit comes out with a sour taste and burning sensation. Marshmallow Root was added for its calming ability on inflammation and irritation in the digestive tract. The root contains a high content of mucilage, which forms a slippery and soothing mixture when combined with liquid. The slippery nature of marshmallow is helpful for constipation while at the same time soothing diarrhea. If your digestion is feeling hot, dry, irritated, and inflamed, this is one of the best herbs to try. It also helps to neutralize excess stomach acid and has shown potential for healing ulcers. Amla berries because they are rich in antioxidants, which reduce the risk of chronic health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Amla berries are also an excellent source of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Iron, and Calcium. Amla berries have been linked to several significant health benefits, including Lower blood glucose ~ Reduced LDL cholesterol ~ Lower blood pressure ~ Improved thyroid health ~ Assistance in weight loss ~ Boosted immunity. Ginger because it contains bioactive compounds like gingerol and shogaol, which have anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties. These compounds help relax the gastrointestinal tract and alleviate nausea, whether it is from motion sickness, morning sickness during pregnancy, or chemotherapy-induced nausea. Thyme was added because it has been traditionally used to help with various digestive issues, including nausea. It contains compounds like thymol and carvacrol, which have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help soothe the digestive tract and reduce symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
Next, we added Slippery Elm Bark. Slippery Elm is known for its soothing properties and is often used to help with digestive issues, including nausea. It contains mucilage, a gel-like substance that coats and soothes the lining of the stomach and intestines, which can help reduce irritation and discomfort. Dill Seed contains carminative properties, which means they can help ease flatulence, bloating, and nausea. Peppermint and spearmint were also included for their benefits for easing nausea and indigestion, although peppermint is the stronger of the two. Peppermint has antispasmodic properties that relax muscles in your digestive tract. It can help with stomach cramps, nausea, gas, and IBS symptoms. Spearmint also calms an upset stomach and eases nervousness that may be causing stomach pain. It is milder than peppermint, which often makes it a better choice for children with upset tummies. Lemon balm may help relieve feelings of nausea due to its potential impact on the digestive system. Steep Me Vitamin B Blend was added because it is often used to treat nausea and vomiting, especially during pregnancy. Oregano contains compounds like carvacrol and thymol, which have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help settle an upset stomach. Licorice contains compounds like glycyrrhizin and licoricidin, which have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These compounds can help soothe the digestive tract and reduce symptoms of nausea and vomiting. We also added Lemon. Lemon contains neutralizing acids that form bicarbonates, which can help bring relief. The acids also kick-start saliva production, which can help ease nausea. soothes acid, a naturally occurring compound in lemons, is thought to aid digestion and soothe the stomach. Drinking warm water with lemon juice may stimulate your bowels if nausea is due to constipation. Citrusy smells, such as those from freshly sliced lemon, may also help reduce pregnancy-related nausea. Finally, we combined our Vitamin D3 with Vitamin K2 to make a fantastic supporting combination to help you feel better. This combo can help support your mood, boost your brain function, and improve your well-being. Both vitamins have antioxidant properties that help promote the actions of serotonin, dopamine, and other key brain neurotransmitters. It participates in the healthy regulation of thousands of human genes and is crucial for a strong immune system.
