Blender’s Notes Bone Health ~ Osteoporosis ~ Bone Density ~ Micro-Nutrition:
Steep Me Micro-Nutrition combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits of different combinations of Vitamins and Minerals. With this blend we are providing a healthy and potent blend of minerals and vitamins for managing the health of your skeletal system. The skeletal system is composed of bones and cartilage. There are two parts of the skeleton: axial and appendicular. The axial skeleton consists of the bones of the head and trunk. The appendicular skeleton consists of the bones within the limbs, as well as supporting pectoral and pelvic girdles. There are 206 bones in an adult human body. The place at which two bones are fitted together is called the joint or articulation. Joints are supported by cartilage and reinforced with ligaments. Functions of the skeletal system are mechanical support, movement, protection, blood cell production, calcium storage and endocrine regulation. A concern of the skeletal system is the health of your bones. Bone density, or bone mineral density, is the amount of bone mineral in bone tissue. The concept is of mass of mineral per volume of bone (relating to density in the physics sense), although clinically it is measured by proxy according to optical density per square centimeter of bone surface upon imaging. Bone density measurement is used in clinical medicine as an indirect indicator of osteoporosis and fracture risk. It is measured by a procedure called densitometry, often performed in the radiology or nuclear medicine departments of hospitals or clinics. The measurement is painless and non-invasive and involves low radiation exposure. Measurements are mostly made over the lumbar spine and over the upper part of the hip. The forearm may be scanned if the hip and lumbar spine are not accessible. There is a statistical association between poor bone density and higher probability of fracture. Fractures of the legs and pelvis due to falls are a significant public health problem, especially in elderly women, leading to substantial medical costs, inability to live independently and even risk of death. Bone density measurements are used to screen people for osteoporosis risk and to identify those who might benefit from measures to improve bone strength. Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak and brittle — so brittle that a fall or even mild stresses such as bending over or coughing can cause a break. Osteoporosis-related breaks most commonly occur in the hip, wrist, or spine. Bone is living tissue that is constantly being broken down and replaced. Osteoporosis occurs when the creation of new bone does not keep up with the loss of old bone. Osteoporosis affects men and women of all races. But white and Asian women, especially older women who are past menopause, are at highest risk. Medicines, healthy diet, and weight-bearing exercise can help prevent bone loss or strengthen already weak bones. There typically are no symptoms in the early stages of bone loss. But once your bones have been weakened by osteoporosis, you might have signs and symptoms that include Back pain, caused by a broken or collapsed bone in the spine. Loss of height over time. A stooped posture. A bone that breaks much more easily than expected. Osteoporosis – Symptoms and causes – Mayo Clinic
In this blend, we started with Beet Root. Beet Root can be beneficial for bone health due to its rich nutrient profile. It contains magnesium, which is essential for bone strength and helps in calcium absorption. Additionally, beetroot is packed with vitamin C, which plays a crucial role in collagen synthesis, a protein essential for bone structure. The anti-inflammatory properties of beetroot, thanks to compounds called betalains, can also help reduce inflammation and support overall bone health. With Beet Root we also included our Steep Me Magnesium Blend. Magnesium plays a crucial role in supporting bone health and density. It aids in the absorption and metabolism of calcium, ensuring it reaches your bones effectively. Magnesium also regulates the activity of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and osteoclasts (bone-resorbing cells), maintaining a balance that is essential for strong and healthy bones. Having Magnesium also helps with Vitamin D3 use. We included Vitamin D3 because it is important for keeping bones strong and preventing osteoporosis, a disease that can make bones weak and brittle. Vitamin D helps your intestines absorb calcium from the food you eat, and getting enough of both nutrients can help keep your bones dense and strong. Calcium and vitamin D together can build stronger bones in women after menopause. Next, we added in Calcium. Calcium is a cornerstone for maintaining strong bones and healthy bone density. It plays a critical role in bone formation and maintenance. Adequate calcium intake ensures that your bones remain dense and strong throughout life. When calcium levels in the body are low, it can lead to weakened bones and conditions such as osteoporosis. Adequate calcium intake helps keep bones dense and strong and ensuring sufficient calcium intake can help prevent the onset of osteoporosis.
We also included our Steep Me Potassium Blend because it plays a significant role in maintaining bone health and density. It helps neutralize metabolic acids, which can otherwise lead to bone breakdown. By maintaining an alkaline environment in the body, potassium helps reduce calcium loss from bones, promoting better bone mineral density. Boron because it may help to maintain healthy bones by extending the amount of time estrogen is present in the body. It can support bone health in general, particularly in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, by reducing the loss of essential minerals and increasing calcium and vitamin D levels. Boron helps bones conserve calcium and partially compensates for vitamin D deficiencies, especially affecting the sockets of the teeth. It helps a woman’s body conserve estrogen during and after menopause. We also included Tamarind. Tamarind is great at supporting bone health and preventing osteoporosis. It is rich in magnesium and calcium, both of which are essential for maintaining strong bones. Magnesium helps improve bone stiffness and increases the activity of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells), while calcium is a primary component of bone tissue. Vitamin C because it plays a significant role in supporting bone health and preventing osteoporosis. It is essential for collagen synthesis, which is a key component of bone tissue. Vitamin C also helps in the formation of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and reduces oxidative stress, which can lead to bone resorption (breakdown). Flaxseed was included because it contributes to maintaining bone strength and density while preventing bone loss and the consumption of flaxseed oil (FO) has been shown to increase bone mineral density (BMD) and lower osteoporosis risk factor.
Next, we added our Steep Me Medicinal Mushroom Blend. Mushrooms have great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which may contribute to overall bone health. Mushrooms have shown promise in supporting bone health and potentially preventing osteoporosis, they can influence bone density by regulating hormone levels and promoting bone formation ~ bone remodeling and strength. Bone remodeling (bone resorption and formation) balance is due to ergosterol (a vitamin D precursor) promotes the absorption of calcium, thus helping to protect the bones and prevent osteoporosis. It boosts bone tissue production thanks to the stimulation of osteoblasts. These mushrooms are rich in nutrients like copper and zinc, which are essential for bone health and mushrooms have shown potential in supporting bone health and preventing osteoporosis because it can induce the production of estradiol, a hormone that helps maintain bone density and has been found to prevent disuse-induced osteoporosis. DHA Omega3 because it has been shown to support bone health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. DHA helps reduce inflammation, which can protect bone cells and promote bone formation and have found that higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, are associated with a lower risk of fractures and better bone mineral density. Green Chiretta was included because of its high immune boosting, its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties may contribute to overall bone health. We also included Tongkat Ali. Tongkat Ali contains bioactive compounds like quassinoids and eurycomanone, which have been shown to enhance bone mineral density and regulate the activity of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and osteoclasts (bone-resorbing cells). By promoting bone formation and reducing bone resorption, Tongkat Ali can help improve bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures. Zinc plays a significant role in maintaining bone health and preventing osteoporosis. It helps in the formation of new bone and inhibits the breakdown of bone. Zinc also supports the activity of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and helps in bone mineralization and has lower levels of zinc compared to those with healthy bones.
We also added Turmeric because of its active compound curcumin, has shown potential in supporting bone health and preventing osteoporosis. Curcumin has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce inflammation and improve bone metabolism. Curcumin can help balance the activity of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and osteoclasts (bone-resorbing cells), promoting bone health and reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Next, we added Cayenne Pepper. It contains capsaicin, Vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin K, can support overall bone health and influence the productivity of Turmeric. Dandelion Leaf was added because it has several properties that may support bone health and help prevent osteoporosis. It contains vitamin K, which is essential for bone mineralization and helps reduce the risk of fractures. Dandelion leaves are also rich in calcium, magnesium, and potassium, all of which are important for maintaining strong bones. Finally, with the Dandelion Leaf we also added in Vitamin K. Vitamin K plays a crucial role in maintaining bone health and preventing osteoporosis. It helps activate proteins involved in bone formation and mineralization, making bones stronger and less prone to fractures. There are two main forms of vitamin K: K1 (found in green leafy vegetables like spinach and kale) and K2 (found in fermented foods and some animal products). Studies have shown that adequate intake of vitamin K can help improve bone mineral density and reduce the risk of fractures.
