Blender’s Notes Happy Belly:
Steep Me Self Help Tea combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. This combination of herbs helps to soften and moisten to help remove the fecal plug and the bloating and nausea that can come with Constipation. Constipation is uncomfortable and can make life uncomfortable. When you are feeling weighed down and bloated, you want fast relief. You may be able to use natural remedies to relieve your constipation. Having fewer than three bowel movements a week is, technically, the definition of constipation. But how often you poop varies widely from person to person. Some people poop several times a day while others only poop one to two times a week. Whatever your bowel movement pattern is, it is unique and normal for you — if you do not stray too far from your pattern. Regardless of your bowel pattern, one fact is certain: The longer you go before you poop, the more difficult it becomes for poop to pass. Other key features that usually define constipation include: Your stools are dry and hard. Your bowel movements are painful, and your stools are difficult to pass. You have a feeling that you have not fully emptied your bowels. Constipation is one of the most frequent gastrointestinal complaints in the United States. Constipation happens because your colon (large intestine) absorbs too much water from your poop. This dries out your poop, making it hard in consistency and difficult to push out of your body. To back up a bit, as food normally moves through your digestive tract, your intestines gradually absorb the nutrients. The partially digested food (waste) that passes from your small intestine to your large intestine becomes your poop. Your colon absorbs water from this waste, which makes it more solid. If you have constipation, food may move too slowly through your digestive tract. This gives your colon more time — too much time — to absorb water from the waste. The stool becomes dry, hard, and difficult to push out. Common lifestyle causes of constipation include Not eating enough fiber. Not drinking enough water (dehydration). Not getting enough exercise. Changes in your regular routine, such as traveling or eating, or going to bed at various times. Consuming copious amounts of milk or cheese. Stress. Resisting the urge to have a bowel movement. Certain teas may aid constipation in several ways. For example, drinking more fluids may help a person stay hydrated. Since dehydration is a common cause of constipation, this may help soften stools and make them easier to pass. Some of the herbs in herbal teas can also have additional properties that may stimulate the digestive system. In this blend we based it on Puerh and Rooibos. Puerh because it is known for its potential benefits in aiding digestion and relieving constipation. The tea contains compounds like lovastatin, antioxidants, and polyphenols, which can help improve digestion and promote bowel movements. Some studies suggest that Pu-erh tea can be effective in preventing constipation when consumed regularly. Rooibos because it can step into the digestive system like a seasoned ballet dancer, gracefully soothing and supporting it. With its natural laxative properties, rooibos tea gently stimulates bowel activity, bidding adieu on that unwelcome guest named constipation. The tea’s hydrating properties also champion digestive health. With these great teas we also included Ginger. Ginger can be effective in alleviating constipation. It acts as a natural laxative, promoting bowel movements and aiding digestion. Stimulates Digestion: Ginger contains compounds that stimulate peristalsis, the wave-like contractions that move food through the intestines. High Fiber Content: which helps soften stools and makes them easier to pass. Reduces Gas: As a natural carminative, ginger helps reduce gas and bloating, which can accompany constipation. Anti-inflammatory Properties: Ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties can soothe the digestive tract, promoting regular bowel movements. Chicory was included because it has a mild laxative effect and decreases swelling. Is a rich source of beta-carotene. Can be used as a natural laxative to relieve constipation. Contains a unique type of fiber called inulin fiber which has been shown to provide digestive help. May improve bowel function and reduce constipation. Next, we added Senna Leaf. Senna Leaf has been used to treat constipation and clear the bowel. Elderflower was also included because it can support healthy bowel function and prevent constipation without the harsh effects of synthetic laxatives. Elderflower can help relieve chronic constipation and relieve other digestive disorders such as indigestion, gas, and bloating. Black Cumin was included because it has laxative properties that add bulk to the stool to quickly relieve constipation. Burdock root because it has a significant fiber content, which helps to prevent instances of constipation, bloating and cramping of the stomach. Its laxative nature regulates bowel movements, thereby easing any discomfort experienced in the gut. Burdock tea acts as a laxative and allows smooth passage of food from bowels and eases constipation. Burdock root is high in inulin, which helps with digestion, but some people may experience temporary bloating or gas after eating.
Next, we added in Orange Peel and Plantain Leaf. Orange Peel can help relieve constipation and has about 14% of your daily needs of Vitamin C. Plantain has laxative properties and contains plenty of fiber to help regularity. Strawberry Leaves are rich in polyphenols, help reduce blood sugar levels, contain fiber and substances that aid digestion, reducing stomach discomfort, and they are High in antioxidants and can help reduce inflammation and strengthen the immune system. Horehound was added because it has been found to contain several health-boosting plant components including vitamin C, essential oils, flavonoids, alkaloids, bitter lactone, saponin, sterols, tannins, monoterpenes and diterpenes. Horehound is believed to be one of the Bible’s bitter herbs. Its bitter flavor makes it an excellent choice for improving digestion since plants that taste bitter have been shown to help in managing dyspepsia also known as indigestion or upset stomach. The taste of bitter herbs helps to increase the production of saliva and gastric juices. This is exactly what you want when you are eating because these crucial bodily fluids help to break down the food you eat. Anise was added because it contains anethole, a bioactive compound that promotes natural bowel movements and flow within the gut. Anise seeds contain compounds that relax the digestive tract and relieve constipation. Anise possesses carminative properties that decrease bloating and improve bowel function. It stimulates gastric juice production and regulates digestion, making it useful for both constipation and diarrhea. Licorice root can provide a mild laxative effect and work against constipation. It promotes peristalsis and aids in assimilation. Mug Wort is an herb known for its various medicinal uses, including aiding digestive issues. It is believed to help stimulate gastric juice and bile secretion, which can be beneficial for relieving constipation. Additionally, mug wort contains antioxidants that may help alleviate other digestive problems like nausea and vomiting. Slippery Elm was included because it stimulates nerves in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which leads to mucus production and provides relief from constipation and slippery elm contains the sticky substance mucilage, which coats the GI tract. Finally, we included Helichrysum. Helichrysum can help stop intestinal spasms, which can help reduce the symptoms of some digestive issues such as cramps, pain, and bloating.
