Blender’s Notes Irritable Bowel Syndrome:
Steep Me Self-help Tea combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. In this combination of herbs, we really wanted to offer a blend to help manage a diagnosis of IBS ~ Irritable Bowel Syndrome. If you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), drinking herbal teas can help ease some of your symptoms. The soothing act of drinking tea is often associated with relaxation. On a mental level, it can help you relieve stress and anxiety. On a physical level, these teas can help relax abdominal muscles and relieve cramps. Drinking tea also increases your fluid intake, which can help your digestion. It is thought that hot beverages can help digestion, as well.

In this blend we based it on Ginger. Ginger has anti-inflammatory effects that may help reduce intestinal inflammation and cramping. It can help alleviate symptoms like bloating, gas, and indigestion. Ginger is considered low in FODMAPs, making it a safe option for those following a low-FODMAP diet to manage IBS. Ginger may help reduce symptoms of diarrhea-predominant IBS by slowing down the movement of food through the intestines. Next, we added Peppermint. Peppermint is an herb often used to relieve digestive issues, including IBS. Drinking peppermint tea soothes the intestines, relieves abdominal pain, reduces bloating, and relaxes gastrointestinal tissue. Cloves we also added because it contains compounds like eugenol, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help reduce inflammation in the gut and protect the lining of the stomach and intestines. This can be particularly helpful for those experiencing gastrointestinal discomfort. Cloves are a suitable spice for those following a low FODMAP diet to manage their IBS. Self-Heal was added because it has anti-inflammatory effects that can help soothe the digestive tract and reduce inflammation-related discomfort. Its astringent properties can help tighten and tone the tissues of the digestive system, which may be beneficial for conditions like diarrhea. Self-heal is known to support the immune system, which can be crucial for maintaining a healthy gut environment. Artichoke because it helps to balance the gut’s microflora and can also help prevent spasms. Inulin, which is a starchy compound in artichoke helps to balance your intestinal microbiota which can have an incredibly positive effect on IBS. Licorice Root because it has an ability to reduce inflammation, calm spasms, and promote healthy digestion. By soothing the digestive tract, licorice root can help relieve the discomfort associated with IBS and improve bowel regularity. Helichrysum Flowers may help reduce symptoms like cramps, pain, and bloating due to their ability to stop intestinal spasms. This could be particularly beneficial for managing the discomfort associated with IBS. We included Yellow Dock. Yellow Dock – Rumex crispus, has been traditionally used for its potential benefits in managing digestive issues, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It is known for its mild laxative properties and its ability to support liver function and may help alleviate symptoms of IBS.
Next, we added Belladonna. Belladonna contains alkaloids such as atropine and scopolamine, which can help reduce muscle spasms and gastrointestinal discomfort. Milk Thistle because it is rich in antioxidants, particularly silymarin, which can help reduce inflammation and support liver and gallbladder function. Since the liver plays a crucial role in digestion by producing bile, which aids in the digestion and absorption of fats, improving liver function can indirectly benefit digestive health and potentially alleviate some IBS symptoms. Borage is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and offers some benefits for managing symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It reduces inflammation, which is helpful for IBS, which often involves inflammation of the gut. California Poppy because it is known for its calming and antispasmodic properties, which can be beneficial for various conditions, including IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Its antispasmodic action helps relax muscles throughout the body, making it useful for soothing tense, aching muscles, and treating stress-related gut problems like IBS. Next, we added Burdock Root. Burdock contains inulin, a type of prebiotic fiber that can help improve gut health by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria, it has anti-inflammatory effects, which may help reduce inflammation in the gut, potentially alleviating some IBS symptoms, and burdock root supports liver function, which can indirectly benefit digestive health. Finally, we added Red Clover. Red Clover contains isoflavones that might help improve inflammation and intestinal permeability, which are common issues in IBS. Red Clover is believed to help soothe digestive issues such as indigestion and gastritis and may stimulate digestion and metabolism, aiding in the efficient breakdown of fats.
