Blender’s Notes Vascular Health ~ Vasculitis – WIP:
Steep Me Self Help Tea combinations are a great way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. The blends in our Work in Progress section are still in their testing phases…. We would love for you to try the blends and give us feedback on how you felt they were working. All of our teas go thru a thorough testing phase to ensure we are finding success in the combination. Once we have 100 people or more testing the blend and we are starting to see the same results in 60 or more of the testers…these blends will move to the Self-Help section.
This blend is meant to help with the inflammation of the blood vessels (the series of tubular structures that carry blood to tissues and organs throughout the body) that can come with a diagnosis of Vasculitis. The inflammation can cause the walls of the blood vessels to thicken, which reduces the width of the passageway through the vessel. If blood flow is restricted, it can result in organ and tissue damage. There are many types of vasculitis, and our focus is on overall Vascular Health and Wellness of the vessels. Vasculitis might affect just one organ, or several. The condition can be short term or long lasting. Vasculitis can affect anyone, so this blend is not age specific. Many studies have shown that Vasculitis is an autoimmune disorder in which the blood carrying vessels are destroyed due to inflammation, thereby making them incapable of supplying adequate blood to the organs and tissues. When a blood vessel is inflamed, it may become stretched, weakened, enlarged, or narrowed leading to insufficient blood supply which in turn causes organ or tissue damage. The walls of the blood vessels may swell and bulge, and may even rupture, causing bleeding inside the body. In this blend we included a variety of herbs that contain anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial and astringent properties that support the immune system and lymphatic drainage.
The first ingredient in this blend is Turmeric. Turmeric is a stimulating, warming herb that is used to manage inflammation. Turmeric belongs to the ginger family and helps to bring balance to the body’s individual systems by bringing down inflammation more quickly than any other herb. Another way that turmeric cultivates opportunity for the body to heal itself is through its detoxifying characteristics – it cleanses the blood of heavy metals and metabolic waste. It strengthens your liver and kidneys so that they can do their job of processing toxins and hormones. This allows your body to find its natural levels again. Calendula has been added because it is one of the best anti-inflammatory herbs and provides powerful antioxidants. The anti-inflammatory benefits of calendula come from the linoleic acid content, which has proved to be a potent remedy for issues like vasculitis. Calendula is also used for fighting infections and promoting oral health. We added Ginger Root because it is one of the most well-known natural remedies for inflammation. It is a plant that is used as both a food and medicine worldwide. Ginger contains the active constituents gingerol and shogaol, which are the main cause of ginger’s anti-inflammatory effects. Ashwagandha is a well-known anti-inflammatory herb that can help reduce cortisol in the body and fight the negative effects of stress. By reducing inflammation, ashwagandha helps balance blood sugar levels, ease anxiety, relieve adrenal fatigue and boost immune function. It is adaptogenic in nature – meaning that it enhances your body’s resilience to external and internal stressors and brings your system into a state of balance. But Ashwagandha’s primary benefit is in its ability to restore the immune system’s homeostasis. Ashwagandha is a great ally if you are showing signs of autoimmune dysfunction. It is also an all-around tonic herb that brings down inflammation in the body and helps to balance hormonal activity, as well as other systems throughout the body.
Next, we added St John’s Wort. St John’s Wort was added because it is an herb with dozens of active substances that contribute to its therapeutic potential. The soothing nature of St. John’s wort and the rich concentration of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds make it perfect for easing the pain and inflammation of Vasculitis and St. John’s wort lowers inflammation in the cardiovascular system, thereby helping lower blood pressure and decrease stress on the heart. Garlic is an anti-viral herb that is widely recognized as agents for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases, atherosclerosis, hyperlipidemia, thrombosis, hypertension, and diabetes. Bilberry also has anti-inflammatory properties because it is rich in flavonoids which can protect the blood vessels from inflammation. Further, it can increase blood circulation and strengthen the blood vessel walls. Gingko Biloba can improve blood circulation, reduce swelling, and pain and protect the cells from the effects of reduced blood oxygen levels. Burdock has been shown to contain multiple types of powerful antioxidants, including quercetin, luteolin, and phenolic acids and contains active ingredients in its root system that can remove toxins from the bloodstream. Feverfew is a compound found to significantly reduce inflammation; it contains more than thirty natural plant chemicals. These are called sesquiterpene lactones, with the most active being parthenolide. These chemicals are thought to block the body’s production of prostaglandins, which cause inflammation, pain, and fever, stop blood vessel muscles from contracting and curb the action of signaling molecules that promote inflammation in the body. Thyme has long been known for its antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic activities, in addition to remarkable disruption of microbial biofilms. White Willow has antioxidant properties that come from its polyphenolic glycosides and flavonoids. These antioxidants not only protect the body from oxidative damage but also increase antioxidant enzymes and reduce oxidative stress. And finally, Hawthorn because it can be used in the treatment of vasculitis. because it has a rich source of polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidant compounds found in plants, may have anti-inflammatory properties that could improve your health. Hawthorn can also function as a vasodilator, meaning it can relax constricted blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and may improve blood cholesterol levels thanks to its flavonoid and pectin content.
