Blender’s Notes Autoimmune ~ Psoriatic Arthritis ~ WIP:
Steep Me Self-Help combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. The blends in our Work in Progress section are still in their testing phases…. We would love for you to try the blends and give us feedback on how you felt they were working. All our teas go through a thorough testing phase to ensure we are finding success in the combination. Once we have 100 people or more evaluating the blend and we are starting to see the same results in 60 or more of the testers…these blends will move to the Self-Help section. This blend was combined to help with Autoimmune Concerns especially Psoriatic Arthritis.
Psoriatic arthritis is characterized by joint pain, inflammation, and stiffness that develops in addition to skin symptoms. Some people with this condition may not have symptoms on their skin at all. The widespread inflammation that affects the skin and joints in psoriatic arthritis can also extend to other areas of the body, causing nail changes, swollen fingers or toes with a sausage-like appearance called dactylitis, inflammation of the eyes called uveitis, and inflammation of the sites where tendons and ligaments attach to the bone called enthesitis. Other systemic symptoms of psoriatic arthritis can include chronic fatigue. In some people, inflammatory bowel disease develops, producing digestive symptoms. Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that often has a genetic link. People with autoimmune conditions tend to inherit genes that increase their risk of developing one. A combination of genetic and environmental factors can lead to the development of psoriasis. Some of the possible environmental factors include stress, illness, infection, smoking, and other factors like diet and alcohol and drug use that cause inflammation throughout your body. Psoriatic arthritis, especially axial involvement affecting the spine, has been linked to a specific gene marker in patients with psoriasis called HLA-B27. This gene is more often found in patients with psoriatic arthritis who have inflammatory back pain, which results from inflammatory cellular changes in the joints of the spine. This causes a chronic cycle of inflammation and unbalanced bone remodeling, leading to bone loss and potential fusion of bones in the spine and sacroiliac joints. These changes may result from the mechanical strain exerted on the vertebrae from the inflamed tendon and ligament attachment sites that results from psoriasis. Psoriatic Arthritis and Back Pain: Symptoms and Causes
Autoimmune diseases are health conditions that happen when your immune system attacks your body instead of defending it. Healthcare providers sometimes call them autoimmune disorders. Usually, your immune system is like your body’s built-in security system. It automatically detects substances that should not be in your body (like viruses, bacteria, or toxins) and sends out white blood cells to eliminate them before they can damage your body or make you sick. If you have an autoimmune disease, your immune system is more active than it should be. Because there are no invaders to attack, your immune system turns on your body and damages healthy tissue. Autoimmune diseases are chronic conditions. This means if you have an autoimmune disease, you will have to manage it and the symptoms it causes for the rest of your life. There are more than 100 different autoimmune diseases. They can affect almost any tissue or organ in your body, depending on where your immune system malfunctions, including your: Joints. Muscles. Skin. Blood vessels. Digestive system. Endocrine system. Nervous system. Autoimmune diseases can cause a wide range of symptoms. They can affect your body from head to toe. For example, conditions that affect your muscles can cause muscle weakness. You might also have joint pain, swelling or stiffness if you have a condition like rheumatoid arthritis. Type 1 diabetes causes high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). Some autoimmune conditions affect your vision. Many autoimmune diseases cause inflammation, which can include: A feeling of warmth or heat. Discoloration or redness on your skin. Swelling. Pain. Lots of autoimmune diseases cause symptoms that come and go (recur). These episodes of more noticeable or more severe symptoms are called flares or attacks. Tell your provider if you experience symptoms that seem to recur — especially if certain physical activities, times of day, foods or drinks, or anything else makes them noticeably better or worse. Trust your gut. Nobody knows what is normal for your body better than you. Visit a healthcare provider if you notice any new symptoms you cannot explain, especially if you do not feel like yourself more often than usual. Autoimmune Diseases: Types, Symptoms & Treatments
The primary goal of treating any autoimmune disorder is to control the immune response in your body. Which include treatment options usually involving reducing inflammation and other symptoms. While this blend is considered a treatment it usually cannot cure the disease, but it may reduce symptoms and help you manage the condition better. In this blend we added many herbs for their huge anti-inflammatory properties and capabilities including Frankincense, Ginger, Milk Thistle Seed, Celery Seed, and Cat’s Claw. We added Arnica and Rhus Tox that contain anti-inflammatory compounds that relieve muscle and joint pain. Also, we added Skullcap which is traditionally used for the relief from tension, stress, and anxiety. Its anxiolytic properties are highly beneficial for driving out anxiety. Skullcap is highly effective against diseases like inflammatory bowel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers and more. Next, we added Turmeric because its main ingredient, curcumin, has high anti-inflammatory properties and has long played a role in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine. It may help with OA, RA, and other arthritic conditions. Curcumin possesses anti-inflammatory properties and as psoriasis is a chronic inflammation of the skin, it inhibits the proliferation of psoriatic cells. Also, the antioxidant nature of the compound helps reduce psoriatic lesions by reducing the oxidative stress in the body.
Cayenne was added because it helps with arthritis pain by creating a numbing effect on pain receptors. Valerian Root can help improve sleep, reducing anxiety, improving stress, helpful for controlling hyperactivity, decrease in menopausal symptoms, improving heart rate, cure for restless leg syndrome, effective for cancer therapy, improves OCD, prevent dizziness, and helpful in treat drug addiction and alcoholism. White Willow Bark was added to reduce inflammation, lower fever, and relieve pain. In this blend you will also find Catnip, which is effective as an anti-inflammatory agent. This means that it can be effective against arthritis, slow down the body’s natural cycles and induce a calm, relaxed state can provide stress relief and reduce chronic anxiety. Kratom possesses analgesic properties, the leaves of the tropical tree can help reduce the pain by affecting your hormonal system. The alkaloids in kratom impact the opiate receptors present in the central nervous system and thereby release enkephalins and endorphins which will help your body reduce the pain. Finally, the last set of ingredients is our Steep Me Medicinal Mushroom Blend added for its abilities to fight chronic inflammation and oxidative stress which are believed to be the root causes of many modern illnesses. These mushrooms contain powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds that may help reduce the impact of these symptoms believed to be the root causes of many modern illnesses, including heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. They are great at fighting fatigue and helping with the body’s overall wellness.
