Blender’s Notes Adrenal Support ~ Micro-Nutrition:
Steep Me Micro-Nutrition combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits of different combinations of Vitamins and Minerals. With this blend we are providing a healthy and potent blend of minerals and vitamins for managing the health of your Adrenal Gland. Your adrenal glands, also known as suprarenal glands, are small, triangle-shaped glands that are located on top of each of your two kidneys. They are a part of your endocrine system and produce certain hormones that help regulate several important bodily functions, including ~ Metabolism (how your body transforms and manages energy from the food you eat) ~ Immune system ~ Blood pressure ~ Response to stress ~ Development of sexual characteristics. Your adrenal glands are composed of two parts: the cortex (outer region) and the medulla (inner part). Each part is responsible for producing different hormones. Your endocrine system is a network of several glands that create and secrete (release) hormones. A gland is an organ that makes one or more substances, such as hormones, digestive juices, sweat or tears. Endocrine glands release hormones directly into your bloodstream. Hormones are chemicals that coordinate different functions in your body by carrying messages through your blood to your organs, skin, muscles, and other tissues. These signals tell your body what to do and when to do it. The following organs and glands make up your endocrine system ~ Hypothalamus ~ Pituitary gland ~ Thyroid ~ Parathyroid glands ~ Adrenal glands ~ Pineal gland ~ Pancreas ~ Ovaries ~ Testes. Your adrenal glands are responsible for producing and releasing the following essential hormones Cortisol: Cortisol is a glucocorticoid hormone that plays several important roles. It helps control your body’s use of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. It also suppresses inflammation, regulates your blood pressure, increases blood sugar, and helps control your sleep-wake cycle. Your adrenal glands release cortisol during times of stress to help your body get an energy boost and better manage an emergency. Aldosterone: Aldosterone is a mineralocorticoid hormone that plays a central role in regulating blood pressure and the levels of sodium and potassium (electrolytes) in your blood. This means aldosterone helps regulate your blood pH (how acidic or basic it is) by controlling the levels of electrolytes in your blood. DHEA and androgenic steroids: These hormones are weak male hormones, meaning they do not have much biologic impact. They are converted into female hormones (estrogens) in the ovaries and into male hormones (androgens) in the testes. Androgens are usually thought of as male hormones, but the female body naturally produces a small number of androgens too. Adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine): These hormones are known as the “fight or flight” hormones and are called catecholamines. Adrenaline and noradrenaline can increase your heart rate and force of heart contractions, increasing blood flow to your muscles and brain and assisting in glucose metabolism. They also control the squeezing of your blood vessels (vasoconstriction), which helps maintain blood pressure. Your adrenal glands often release these hormones, like other adrenal hormones, when you are in physically and emotionally stressful situations.
You have two adrenal glands that are located on top of each of your kidneys. Your kidneys are located underneath your ribcage on each side of your spine. What are the parts of the adrenal glands? Both of your adrenal glands consist of two main parts: Medulla: The medulla is the inner part of your adrenal gland, and it releases the hormones adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine). These hormones help control your blood pressure, heart rate, sweating and other activities that are also regulated by your sympathetic nervous system. Cortex: The cortex is the outer part of your adrenal gland, and it releases corticosteroid and mineralocorticoid hormones. The adrenal cortex also stimulates the production of small amounts of male sex steroid hormones (androgenic steroids). The symptoms of adrenal gland issues vary depending on which hormones are affected. Many of the symptoms of adrenal disorders are like those of other illnesses. Signs and symptoms that are relevant to the bodily processes your adrenal gland hormones affect include: Metabolism symptoms: Unexplained weight gain or weight loss, fatigue, frequent high blood sugar or low blood sugar, weakness. Immune system symptoms: Frequent sickness or infections. Blood pressure symptoms: High blood pressure (hypertension) or low blood pressure (hypotension). Sexual characteristics symptoms that affect females and prepubescent males: Growing facial hair and or balding, developing acne, having a deeper voice, and becoming more muscular.

In this blend we started with Ashwagandha and Astralagus. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, it works through your HPA-axis and can therefore help balance how much cortisol your body makes. Ashwagandha helps prevent the depletion of cortisol and vitamin C (which is highly concentrated in the adrenal glands) in the adrenals following a stressful event. Astragalus is an adaptogenic herb that has been traditionally used to support adrenal health. It helps the body adapt to stress and can boost the immune system. By supporting the adrenal glands, astragalus can help alleviate symptoms of adrenal fatigue and improve overall well-being. We also added Tongkat Ali because it is known for its adaptogenic properties, which can help support adrenal gland health. It works by stimulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which helps regulate stress responses. By activating this axis, Tongkat Ali can help reduce cortisol levels and support the production of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a hormone that drives testosterone production. Bupleurum was added because it is helpful for individuals who have been on long-term corticosteroid therapy, which can take a toll on adrenal health. It is an adaptogenic herb that has been traditionally used to support adrenal gland function. Rhodiola because it is an adaptogen that can balance the secretion of cortisol during difficult situations. Rhodiola can support energy levels and optimize concentration in those with adrenal fatigue. Steep Me Ginseng Blend can serve as an adaptogen. Kings and emperors of the past have placed great emphasis on ginseng to fortify their health. It accomplishes these goals by fine tuning the adrenal gland and reestablishing a proper cortisol level. Cortisol is a hormone secreted by the adrenal gland. Gynostemma adaptogenic herb that has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine to support adrenal health. It helps the body adapt to stress and can boost energy levels, making it beneficial for adrenal function. Gynostemma is known for its antioxidant properties and its ability to modulate stress responses, which can help reduce cortisol levels and support overall adrenal health. Maca Root because it is considered an adaptogen, a substance believed to help the body adapt and cope with stress. It is believed to balance hormones and support the adrenal glands, which play a role in the body’s stress response. Next, we added Bacopa because it helps balance the level of the potentially damaging stress hormone cortisol and helps support healthy adrenal function. Adaptogens are herbal remedies that make you more resilient to stress of all kinds — mental, physical, and environmental. Gingko because it is known for its adaptogenic properties, which can help support adrenal health by reducing stress levels. It has been shown to lower cortisol levels, which is beneficial for adrenal function. Additionally, ginkgo biloba is rich in antioxidants, which help reduce the effects of free radicals and lower inflammation. Chasteberry is known for its ability to help balance hormones by acting on the pituitary gland. While it is most used for regulating female hormones, its adaptogenic properties can also help stabilize and level out inconsistencies caused by stress, which indirectly supports adrenal health.
Next, we added our Steep Me Magnesium Blend which plays a role in the functioning of insulin receptors and influences the HPA axis, reducing the release of cortisol and lessening the stress response. Magnesium is a relaxing mineral that allows the chemicals in our bodies to come back into balance after the hormone surge of the stress response. The Adrenal glands are ruled by the ratio of Sodium/Magnesium, and loss of Magnesium causes an initial rise of Sodium, and then an eventual collapse of both Sodium and Magnesium. Cinnamon has been shown to support adrenal gland health by helping to regulate blood sugar levels. Maintaining stable blood sugar is crucial for adrenal function, as fluctuations can lead to increased cortisol production and stress on the adrenal glands. Cinnamon can improve insulin sensitivity and help keep blood sugar levels steady, which in turn supports adrenal health. Bugleweed its overall calming effects on the endocrine system might indirectly benefit adrenal health by reducing stress and balancing hormone levels. Steep Me Medicinal Mushroom are exceptionally high in the polysaccharide beta-glucan, which has been found to reduce stress and healthy cortisol levels and improve immune system performance. They can also help boost energy production, enhance digestion and nutrient absorption, and restore hormonal balance. Selenium is an essential trace mineral that plays a crucial role in supporting adrenal gland health. It acts as an antioxidant, helping to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which can protect the adrenal glands from damage. Selenium deficiency has been linked to decreased activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in adrenal cells, leading to reduced secretion of steroid hormones and increased sensitivity to oxidative stress. Aloe Leaf Aloe vera is known for its soothing and healing properties, and it can be beneficial for adrenal health. Aloe vera can help to soothe the gut and may benefit overall health, including supporting the adrenal glands. It is particularly useful for those suffering from digestive issues or Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS). Fo-Ti Root contains an alkaloid that has rejuvenating effects on the nerves, brain cells and endocrine glands. It stimulates a portion of the adrenal gland and helps to detoxify the body. Kava Kava supporting adrenal health by helping to lower cortisol levels. Cortisol is a stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands, and high levels can lead to adrenal fatigue. By reducing cortisol levels, kava kava can help protect the adrenal glands from overworking and support overall adrenal function. Black Cumin has been studied for its potential benefits to adrenal health. It contains thymoquinone, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce stress and support adrenal function. Some research suggests that black cumin can help lower cortisol levels, which is beneficial for adrenal health.
We also added Amla Berry. Amla Berry is a powerhouse of Vitamin C, which is crucial for adrenal gland function. Stress can deplete Vitamin C levels in the body, and since the adrenal glands rely on this vitamin to produce stress hormones like cortisol, amla berry can help replenish and support adrenal health. Steep Me Chromium Blend is known to support adrenal gland health by helping to maintain stable blood sugar levels. Chromium plays a role in insulin function, and a deficiency can lead to blood sugar imbalances, which in turn can affect adrenal function and cortisol production. By supporting insulin sensitivity, Steep Me Chromium Blend can help reduce stress on the adrenal glands. R-Alpha Lipoic Acid is a potent antioxidant that can support adrenal gland health by reducing oxidative stress and improving mitochondrial function. By enhancing cellular energy production and acting as an anti-inflammatory agent, R-ALA helps protect the adrenal glands from damage and supports overall adrenal function. Beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, is an antioxidant that can support adrenal gland health by protecting cells from oxidative stress. Chronic stress can lead to adrenal hormone imbalance, causing fatigue and other health issues. Antioxidants like beta-carotene help protect the adrenal glands and support hormone production. Finally, we added Ginger. Ginger helps control adequate levels of cortisol in your body. So, for those who suffer with adrenal fatigue, consuming ginger root may be helpful to manage some of your symptoms. Ginger also will lower your blood pressure, help you to have a normal heart rate and contribute to fat burning.
