Blender’s Notes Brain Health ~ Stroke Recovery – WIP:
Steep Me Self Help Tea combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. The blends in our Work in Progress section are still in their testing phases…. We would love for you to try the blends and give us feedback on how you felt they were working. All of our teas go through a thorough testing phase to ensure we are finding success in the combination. Once we have 100 people or more evaluating the blend and we are starting to see the same results in 60 or more of the testers…these blends will move to the Self-Help section.
This blend is meant to help with the recovery involved when a stroke occurs – which is when blood circulation to the brain is halted. This lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain can cause brain cells to die. A stroke can be caused by a blockage of blood flow to the brain (ischemic stroke) or from bleeding into the brain (hemorrhage stroke). Strokes caused by blockages may form from a clot inside a blood vessel in the neck or brain, a clot from another part of the body, or an artery that has been highly narrowed in or leading to the brain. Physical issues after a stroke are common and can include symptoms such as muscle weakness, fatigue, pain, and sleep disturbances. Many of these problems respond well to an integrative approach with targeted nutrients and herbs can help with post-stroke management. Stroke is a dangerous condition since it can result in permanent disability or death. However, herbs can prevent brain damage. Blood circulation and heart health go together. Most diseases that develop from poor circulation affect the heart. Narrowed blood vessels, blood clots, and plaque buildup are all major causes of poor circulation. These causes are often the result of high blood pressure and high LDL cholesterol levels. Having high blood pressure, or hypertension, can cause stress on the heart and the arterial walls to harden, which prevents adequate blood flow throughout the body. Conversely, low blood pressure, or hypotension, can also cause an imbalance in blood flow causing a shortage of oxygen and nutrients in cells, tissues, and organs. In this blend we based it on a high quality Chinese sencha green tea. Green tea has plant nutrients called flavonoids. Flavonoids can help to decrease one’s cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Green tea is well known for its elevated levels of antioxidants, and it is becoming even more well- known for its benefits to the heart. The cells in the blood vessels in and around the heart are more delicate than you might think. Drinking green tea improves their health and condition, which will invariably improve their performance. With this green tea we added Garlic. Garlic can reduce blood pressure in an effective manner. It is also well-known for its ability to reduce cholesterol levels. Garlic is known as an excellent anticoagulant. It can prevent blood clotting from happening. Garlic is widely used in treating heart diseases as it can make blood thinner. This quality helps to deal with high blood pressure and stroke as well. Ginger Root is known for its role in improving digestion, but it also has anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, and antiulcer effects. There is also evidence that ginger can enhance brain function and found that ginger may improve both focus and cognition. Some studies also noted its ability to help prevent and treat neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. is historically one of the best herbs for circulation and heart health. Clinical and traditional research demonstrate evidence that garlic is highly supportive of regulating cholesterol. Next, we included Ashwagandha. Ashwagandha may benefit the brain by reducing oxidative stress (a factor that may contribute to the development and progression of Alzheimer’s disease) is an adaptogen that has been shown to play an important supportive role in patients who have had a stroke. Several in vivo studies have demonstrated that ashwagandha can help with stroke management via key mechanisms including its positive effects on mitochondrial functions and cognition. Studies showed a protective effect of WS supplementation in ischemic stroke and are suggestive of its potential application in stroke management.
We added Gingko. Gingko has long been used as a treatment for dementia and might help improve cognitive function in part by stimulating circulation and promoting blood flow to the brain. The best thing about this herbal ingredient is that it can prevent and treat strokes. It also could prevent blood clots from developing. Blood flow to the brain will improve with the help of this herbal ingredient. The most important aspect of this herbal ingredient is that it prevents the growth of free radicals as much as possible and it helps deal with memory and balance troubles. We also included Carrots. Carrots are one of the effective herbal remedies for strokes. Consuming carrots daily has avoided stroke, because of its large amount of beta-carotene and other important carotenoids. Next, we added Hibiscus. Hibiscus is one of the best herbs for circulation as it is well-known for regulating high blood pressure by lowering both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Hibiscus has been able to improve postprandial vascular function which improvs blood circulation and helps to reduce instances of high blood pressure. Kava Kava was also included. It is used to treat anxiety and sleep disorders, support brain function, and may have anti-cancer properties plus it has great qualities that improve nervous anxiety, stress, and restlessness. It has a positive impact on mood by increasing cheerfulness and by enhancing cognitive performance. Kava kava contains plant extracts of kawain, dihydrokawin, methysticin, dihydromethysticin, and yangonin which are important in its brain protection benefits. These extracts had the most active neuroprotective effects and positively affect the brain’s hippocampus and cortex by reducing neuroinflammation and oxidative damage and improving memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease. We included Turmeric. It contains a compound called curcumin, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects (two factors that may benefit brain health and overall health). The curcumin in turmeric may help decrease the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by boosting DHA content in the brain. DHA is a form of omega-3 fatty acid that is essential for protecting the brain. Peppercorns is great for promoting brain health. Black pepper contains a medicinal compound called piperine, which contains antioxidants that protect brain cells from free radical damage and can help improve memory and cognitive function plus makes our Turmeric more effective. WE also included Bacopa. Bacopa can support improved learning ability and information retention and can help increase cerebral blood flow. By promoting blood circulation in the brain, it may help deliver oxygen and nutrients to brain cells, supporting their optimal function. Bacopa has been shown to increase the body’s utilization of nitric oxide and encourage vascular muscle function, two benefits that positively influence normal blood pressure. Bilberry has also been added because of its ability to strengthen vascular walls, stimulate the formation of new capillaries, and improve microcirculatory health.
This blend also includes Cinnamon. Cinnamon is one of the best stimulant herbs for better circulation. Stimulant herbs work as a vasodilator, which widens and dilates blood vessels allowing for increased blood flow throughout the body. It has been shown that cinnamon was able to decrease systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure and improve blood lipid profiles. Then we added Motherwort. Motherwort has been used traditionally to stop a racing heart due to nervous tension. Long term use can reduce the formation of blood clots, lower cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, and even strengthen the heart muscles. Motherwort has been identified as having flavonoids, phenolic acids, phenylpropanoids, sterols, tannins, and volatile oils. There has been a great deal of studies confirming that motherwort has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant, anti-bacterial, and hypotensive properties. We included our Steep Me Medical Mushroom Blend. This blend contains Lion’s Mane. It contains compounds which are beneficial for cardiovascular function by reducing inflammation, improving blood flow, lowering cholesterol levels, and preventing oxidative damage caused by free radicals and could help reduce risk factors associated with atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries) such as high triglycerides levels or elevated LDL cholesterol concentration. Lion’s Mane can lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol levels. The antioxidants present in this mushroom may protect against oxidative damage caused by free radicals which can lead to plaque buildup within arteries and contribute towards atherosclerosis – another major cause of cardiovascular problems such as stroke or myocardial infarction (heart attack)can help increase nitric oxide production which helps relax blood vessels leading to improved circulation throughout your body – reducing hypertension and providing relief from chest pain due discomfort related angina pectoris; a common symptom experienced during cardiac episodes like congestive heart failure or arrhythmia. Rosemary is a beneficial herb for your brain and has been used in culinary, commercial, and medicinal practices for years due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Rosemary has been shown to improve memory and concentration in the elderly population. Next, we included Ginseng. Ginseng is one of the best herbs for memory due to its potential ability to prevent memory loss and reduce age-related memory declines. Ginseng contains anti-inflammatory chemicals called ginsenosides that have been shown to be a promising neuroprotective strategy in stroke. Ginseng can benefit circulation through the regulation of blood pressure levels and is one of the best natural remedies for circulation because of its ability to relax tension in the blood vessel walls, which helps to reduce blood pressure. We included Pomegranate which is a sweet fruit that is high in polyphenol antioxidants and nitrates, which are potent vasodilators and can improve blood flow and oxygenation of muscle tissue, which could especially aid active individuals. Next is Hawthorn. Hawthorn can be helpful in the dilatation of blood vessels, the strengthening of the heart, the lowering of blood pressure, the removal of fatty deposits and cholesterol levels. Due to its natural bioflavonoids that contain antioxidant compounds, free radicals get destroyed. Hawthorn has also been found to help distribute and make use of vitamin C in the body to help strengthen capillaries. Nettles were added because they can help lower systolic blood pressure and relieve tension and stress on the cardiovascular system. Stinging nettle contains compounds that have vasodilating and calcium channel-blocking effects. And finally, we added Rosehips. Rosehips have been used for centuries in traditional and folk medicine for their anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. If you have any questions, please reach out. We would love to help.
