Steep Me Self Help Tea combinations are a great way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. This combination of herbs helps the body with the deep deep chest cough. The cough that is not helped by traditional throat soothers. This self-help tea will really help get to that deep cough that does not seem to want to go away… or strikes in the middle of the night and keeps you and the others in your home up at night. We combined this tea with our amazing peach green and white tea to give it a great taste. We also added a bit of Peppermint and Eucalyptus to make if very refreshing and effervescent.
We added White, Green, an Oolong Tea because they comprise of caffeine, and it acts like bronchodilators. They help to clear the airway and allows a smooth flow of air to the lungs. Back in 1993, this was proved by Dr. Scott T. Weis of Harvard Medical School. He found that individuals who used tea for bronchitis suffered much lesser symptoms than the others. Astragalus has been shown to fight both bacterial infections and viral infections, such as the common cold, certain flu strains, and even upper respiratory infections like bronchial virus. According to a study, astragalus benefits those suffering from viral bronchitis. Specifically, researchers found that the polysaccharides in astragalus inhibit certain viral bronchitis infections by slowing the rate at which the virus replicates. Eucalyptus is an antibacterial, antiviral pain reliever that also boasts anti-inflammatory effects, so it can help reduce congestion in the airways. Eucalyptus oil has natural properties that help treat phlegm, coughing, and make it easier to breathe. Compounds in eucalyptus oil also thin mucus to make it easier to get rid of it by coughing. Lobelia is used to relieve pneumonia and bronchi’s since it helps free breathing and coughing. Peppermint contains Menthol, the main chemical component of peppermint, is an effective decongestant. Decongestants shrink the swollen membranes in the nose, making it easier to breathe. Menthol is also an expectorant. Expectorants loosen and bring up mucus from the lungs. This helps people with coughs. Lung Wort high mucilage content is known to be useful in respiratory conditions. Horehound has long been used to treat coughs and bronchitis. It’s said to relax the smooth muscles of the bronchus while promoting mucus production. It is also an expectorant (a medicine to help bring up phlegm) in patients with coughs associated with a cold.
