Blender’s Notes De-Stressor:
Steep Me Self-help combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. In this combination of herbs, we really wanted to offer a blend to help manage and regulate your feelings of Stress. Stress is a biological response to a perceived threat. It is caused by chemicals and hormones surging throughout your body. It can help you respond to a particular problem, but too much can harm your health. Stress triggers your fight-or-flight response to fight the stressor or run away from it. Typically, after the response occurs, your body should relax. Too much constant stress can have negative effects. Stress is not necessarily a terrible thing. It is what helped our hunter-gatherer ancestors survive, and it is just as important in today’s world. It can be healthy when it helps you avoid an accident, meet a tight deadline, or keep your wits about you amid chaos. We all feel stressed at times, but what one person finds stressful may be vastly different from what another finds stressful. An example of this would be public speaking. Some love the thrill of it and others become paralyzed at the very thought. Stress is not always a terrible thing, either. Your wedding day, for example, may be considered a good form of stress. But stress should be temporary. Once you have passed the fight-or-flight moment, your heart rate and breathing should slow down, and your muscles should relax. In a brief time, your body should return to its natural state without any lasting negative effects. On the other hand, severe, frequent, or prolonged stress can be mentally and physically harmful. And it is common. When asked, 80 percent of Americans reported they had had at least one symptom of stress in the past month. Twenty percent reported being under extreme stress. Life being what it is, it is not possible to eliminate stress completely. But we can learn to avoid it when possible and manage it when it is unavoidable.
Everything to Know About Stress: Causes, Prevention, and More (healthline.com)
The De-Stressor Tea was built to help reduce Stress and Anxiety at onset, but also as an initiative-taking approach to calm health. The tea is meant to manage Stress but leave mental acuity sharp without causing “brain fog,” This blend is based on Chamomile and Lavender. Chamomile has calming effects and can help with anxiety and stress. It is traditionally used to reduce stress, tension, and an anxious mind. Chamomile can promote relaxation, relieve anxiety symptoms, boost mood, induce sleep, improve digestion, and regulate blood sugar. Lavender contains an oil that seems to have calming effects and might relax certain muscles. It also has antibacterial and antifungal effects. Lavender has been shown to affect the parasympathetic nervous system, which controls bodily processes associated with anxiety, such as heart rate, breathing rhythm, and hormone secretion. Lavender can help in regulating these bodily processes by restoring a neutral state. Lavender aromatherapy has been studied and shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Lavender is known to be uplifting, as well as soothing and helpful for reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. We also added Black Cohosh as having properties that reduce anxiety. Next, we added in red raspberry leaf. It is known for its numerous health benefits, including its potential to help manage stress. Red raspberry leaves are rich in antioxidants like tannins and flavonoids, which help combat oxidative stress by neutralizing harmful free radicals in the body. The chemicals in red raspberry leaves may help relax blood vessels and muscles, which can contribute to a calming effect. The anti-inflammatory properties of red raspberry leaves can also help reduce inflammation, which is often linked to stress. St. John’s Wort was added because it is used to help with various mental health issues, including stress and anxiety. While it is primarily known for its effectiveness in treating mild to moderate depression, some people also use it to alleviate anxiety and stress. The herb is thought to work by increasing the levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the brain, which can improve mood and reduce feelings of stress. St. John’s Wort can interact with antidepressants and should be avoided if you are on a medication.
Next, we added Catnip. Catnip has an active ingredient called nepetalactone, it interacts with receptors in the brain to help regulate mood and induce a sense of calmness. This can be particularly helpful in reducing stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation and restfulness. It can help alleviate symptoms of nervousness, anxiety, and even insomnia and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce physical discomfort, further contributing to overall well-being. Mug Wort because it is believed to have sedative properties that can help calm the nervous system, making it easier to relax and reduce stress. By promoting better sleep, mug wort can indirectly help manage stress. Better sleep often leads to improved mood and reduced anxiety. And can also contribute to a sense of calm and well-being. We included California Poppy because it is known for its potential calming effects on the central nervous system. This can help reduce anxiety and stress, providing support for improved overall well-being. The plant contains alkaloids like protopine and allocryptopine, which interact with GABA receptors in the brain. These receptors play a key role in regulating mood and promoting relaxation. Studies suggest that California poppy can help reduce mild to moderate anxiety and improve sleep quality. Corydalis was added because it is known for its potential benefits in managing stress and promoting relaxation. Corydalis is often used in traditional medicine for its sedative and pain-relieving properties. It can help calm the mind without causing excessive drowsiness. Its effects on neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin can help alleviate feelings of stress, anxiety, and experience subtle mood-lifting or euphoric feelings. Rhodiola is an adaptogen, which means it helps the body adapt to stress and maintain balance. Rhodiola helps reduce the production of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which can help restore balance in the body. It increases the body’s resistance to stress, helping you manage stressful situations better. Rhodiola has been shown to reduce anxiety and ease the effects of stress through its antioxidant properties. It can improve symptoms of burnout, which often occur with chronic stress. And finally, we added Red Clover. Red Clovers contain minerals like magnesium and calcium, which are important for the health of the nervous system. The tea works to calm down nerve activity, which in turn helps the body to release tension, nervousness, stress, anxiety, and worry. All these factors reduce stress and promote a restful sleep.
