Description
Blender’s Notes De-Stressor:
Steep Me Self-Help combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. In this combination of herbs, we really wanted to offer a blend to help manage and regulate your feelings of Stress. Stress is a biological response to a perceived threat. It is caused by chemicals and hormones surging throughout your body. It can help you respond to a particular problem, but too much can harm your health. Stress triggers your fight-or-flight response to fight the stressor or run away from it. Typically, after the response occurs, your body should relax. Too much constant stress can have negative effects. Stress is not necessarily a terrible thing. It is what helped our hunter-gatherer ancestors survive, and it is just as important in today’s world. It can be healthy when it helps you avoid an accident, meet a tight deadline, or keep your wits about you amid chaos. We all feel stressed at times, but what one person finds stressful may be vastly different from what another finds stressful. An example of this would be public speaking. Some love the thrill of it and others become paralyzed at the very thought. Stress is not always a terrible thing, either. Your wedding day, for example, may be considered a good form of stress. But stress should be temporary. Once you have passed the fight-or-flight moment, your heart rate and breathing should slow down, and your muscles should relax. In a brief time, your body should return to its natural state without any lasting negative effects. On the other hand, severe, frequent, or prolonged stress can be mentally and physically harmful. And it is common. When asked, 80 percent of Americans reported they had had at least one symptom of stress in the past month. Twenty percent reported being under extreme stress. Life being what it is, it is not possible to eliminate stress completely. But we can learn to avoid it when possible and manage it when it is unavoidable. Everything to Know About Stress: Causes, Prevention, and More (healthline.com)
The De-Stressor Tea was built to help reduce Stress and Anxiety at onset, but also as an initiative-taking approach to calm health. The tea is meant to manage Stress but leave mental acuity sharp without causing “brain fog,” This blend is based on Chamomile and Lavender. Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is a well-known herb often used for its calming properties and was added because it can promote relaxation, relieve anxiety symptoms, boost mood, induce sleep, improve digestion, and regulate blood sugar. Apigenin is the antioxidant compound found in chamomile that binds to specific receptors in the brain, promoting calmness and reducing anxiety. Chamomile acts as a natural sedative, helping to quiet the mind and body, making it easier to cope with stress. By reducing inflammation, chamomile can also combat physical symptoms of stress, contributing to a greater sense of well-being. Chamomile is known for its sedative properties and is a popular choice for promoting better sleep, which is crucial for stress management. Regular consumption may help stabilize mood and reduce irritability, contributing to overall emotional well-being. Chamomile can soothe digestive discomfort, which often arises from stress, further helping to create a sense of comfort and relaxation. Lavender was added because it contains oil that seems to have calming effects and might relax certain muscles. It also has antibacterial and antifungal effects. Lavender has been shown to affect the parasympathetic nervous system, which controls bodily processes associated with anxiety, such as heart rate, breathing rhythm, and hormone secretion. Lavender can help in regulating these bodily processes by restoring a neutral state. Lavender aromatherapy has been studied and shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Lavender is known to be uplifting, as well as soothing and helpful for reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. We also added Black Cohosh. Black Cohosh may help stabilize hormonal fluctuations, which can influence mood and stress levels, especially in women experiencing menopause. Some compounds in black cohosh may interact with neurotransmitters, potentially improving mood and alleviating symptoms of anxiety. Chronic stress can lead to inflammation in the body. Black cohosh has anti-inflammatory effects that may help counteract this. Black Cohosh may promote better sleep by addressing some menopausal symptoms, which can be exacerbated by stress and users often report enhanced mood and reduced irritability, contributing to an overall sense of wellbeing. Yohimbe was added and it is derived from the bark of the Yohimbe tree (Pausinystalia johimbe) and is best known for its use as an aphrodisia. Yohimbe blocks alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, which can lead to increased norepinephrine levels. This can stimulate the central nervous system and potentially improve mood and motivation. It also increases Blood Flow and by promoting blood circulation, yohimbe may enhance energy levels and reduce feelings of lethargy often associated with stress. Yohimbe may support serotonin levels, contributing to improved mood and anxiety reduction. Next, we added Red Raspberry Leaf. It is known for its numerous health benefits, including its potential to help manage stress. Red raspberry leaves are rich in antioxidants like tannins and flavonoids, which help combat oxidative stress by neutralizing harmful free radicals in the body. The chemicals in red raspberry leaves may help relax blood vessels and muscles, which can contribute to a calming effect. The anti-inflammatory properties of red raspberry leaves can also help reduce inflammation, which is often linked to stress.
Next, we added St. John’s Wort. St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a well-known herbal remedy primarily recognized for its antidepressant effects. Its potential benefits for reducing stress and improving mental well-being make it a popular choice. St. John’s Wort was added because it is used to help with various mental health issues, including stress and anxiety. While it is primarily known for its effectiveness in treating mild to moderate depression, some people also use it to alleviate anxiety and stress. St. John’s Wort has compounds that may influence neurotransmitter levels, including serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, helping to regulate mood and reduce anxiety. Chronic inflammation can exacerbate stress. The anti-inflammatory effects of St. John’s Wort may help mitigate these issues. The herb is rich in antioxidants, which combat oxidative stress, contributing to overall mental health. Regular use can lead to improvements in mood, making it helpful for those experiencing stress-related irritability or mild depression. By promoting a more balanced mood, it can also contribute to better sleep, crucial for stress management. Its combination of mood-enhancing and calming effects makes it valuable for individuals facing chronic stress. Catnip because it has an active ingredient called nepetalactone, it interacts with receptors in the brain to help regulate mood and induce a sense of calmness. This can be particularly helpful in reducing stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation and restfulness. It can help alleviate symptoms of nervousness, anxiety, and even insomnia and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce physical discomfort, further contributing to overall well-being. We also added Mug Wort. Mug wort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a versatile herb traditionally used in various cultures for its medicinal properties, including stress reduction and relaxation. Mug wort is known for its calming properties, which can help soothe the nervous system and alleviate stress. The herb can aid digestion, which may also reduce stress levels, as digestive discomfort can contribute to anxiety. Mug wort may help in maintaining hormonal balance, which is particularly beneficial for women experiencing menstrual or menopausal symptoms linked to stress. Mug wort has been tied to improved cognitive function and focus, which can help in managing stress related to overwhelm or fatigue. Its calming nature can help promote relaxation after a long day, making it a useful addition to evening routines. Sage (Salvia officinalis) was included because it is a medicinal herb known for its numerous health benefits, including its potential role in reducing stress and promoting mental well-being. Sage contains compounds that combat oxidative stress, which is linked to anxiety and mood disorders. Chronic inflammation has been associated with increased stress. Sage’s anti-inflammatory properties may help mitigate this issue and Sage may assist in balancing hormones that affect mood, particularly during periods of hormonal fluctuation. Sage may enhance cognitive performance, reducing stress related to mental fatigue and confusion and its calming effects may contribute to improved sleep, which is crucial for stress management. Regular consumption of sage may help elevate mood, thanks to its potential interactions with neurotransmitters involved in emotional regulation.
We included California Poppy. California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is a flowering plant traditionally used for its medicinal properties, particularly in relation to stress and anxiety management. California poppy contains alkaloids that have calming properties, helping to soothe the nervous system. This herb may promote relaxation by modulating neurotransmitter activity, particularly by enhancing GABA levels, which helps alleviate anxiety. By addressing physical discomfort, California poppy can help reduce stress associated with pain, contributing to an overall sense of well-being. The mild sedative effects can enhance sleep quality, which is crucial for managing stress and mental health. Regular use may help stabilize mood, reducing irritability and emotional fluctuations associated with stress and the herb promotes a sense of relaxation, making it beneficial for those dealing with stress from daily pressures. Corydalis was added because it is known for its potential benefits in managing stress and promoting relaxation. Corydalis is often used in traditional medicine for its sedative and pain-relieving properties. It can help calm the mind without causing excessive drowsiness. Its effects on neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin can help alleviate feelings of stress, anxiety, and experience subtle mood-lifting or euphoric feelings. Dihydrocorybulbine (DHCB) is the active compound in corydalis that is believed to interact with dopamine receptors, which can enhance mood and reduce anxiety. Corydalis has mild sedative properties that can promote relaxation and decrease feelings of tension. By alleviating physical discomfort, corydalis can indirectly reduce stress levels, as pain often contributes to anxiety and mental strain. Catnip was also added. The active ingredient in catnip, nepetalactone, has mild sedative properties that can induce a sense of calm. Catnip may facilitate the release of certain neurotransmitters, like GABA, which help calm the nervous system. By easing digestive issues, which can be exacerbated by stress, catnip indirectly contributes to a relaxation response. Catnip is often used as a natural remedy for reducing feelings of stress and anxiety, promoting a sense of tranquility. Catnip can help improve sleep quality, making it beneficial for those experiencing stress-related insomnia. Regular use may help uplift mood and reduce irritability, contributing to overall emotional well-being and Catnip can help with digestive discomfort, which often arises from stress, allowing for improved comfort and relaxation. Next is Rhodiola. Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea), often called “golden root,” is an adaptogenic herb recognized for its ability to enhance resilience to stress and improve overall mental and physical performance. Rhodiola helps the body adapt to stress and reduces fatigue by regulating stress hormone levels, particularly cortisol. The herb can influence levels of important neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, which are crucial for mood regulation. Rhodiola contains antioxidants that help protect the body from oxidative stress, supporting mental clarity and reducing feelings of tension. Regular use may improve focus, memory, and overall cognitive performance, which can help manage stress better. Rhodiola can enhance physical stamina and reduce fatigue, allowing individuals to cope with stress more effectively. Its mood-enhancing properties can alleviate feelings of irritability and enhance emotional well-being during stressful times. And finally, we added Red Clover. Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is a flowering plant known for its medicinal properties, particularly in relation to women’s health. Its potential benefits for reducing stress make it a valuable herb for holistic wellness. Red clover contains isoflavones, which are plant-based compounds that mimic estrogen. This can help regulate hormonal fluctuations that contribute to mood swings and stress. Chronic inflammation can exacerbate stress and anxiety levels. Red clover’s anti-inflammatory effects may help mitigate these issues. The antioxidants in red clover combat oxidative stress, supporting overall mental health and resilience. Red Clover’s hormonal balance properties can help stabilize mood, reducing irritability and emotional fluctuations. By easing anxiety and hormonal imbalances, red clover may contribute to better sleep, which is essential for stress management. Regular use can promote a sense of well-being and relaxation, counteracting the effects of chronic stress.

When talking about the many types of tea, Tisane (Herbal Infusion) or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is really not tea at all. It is made like a tea and all the same items are used to make it, but it does not contain the Camellia Sinensis Plant (unless stated), but is simply roots, flowers, leaves, and fruits put together is a combination that is made just like a tea. With that being said…the health benefits of a Tisane or Herbal teas are different. They can vary depending on the ingredients and combination of herbs so there are no blanket health benefits – just depends on the ingredients.
For many, the best part of Tisane or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is the fact that it is caffeine free naturally. Of course there are herbs that can be added to change that. The most popular Herbal teas include Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, and any combination of fruit blends or infusions. Our Self-Help Teas are simply supplemental herbal combinations to aid with an occasional ailment specific to what may be happening in your life. The teas are built to work and are not build with any specific flavorings. The blends are tested to the minimum requirements laid out by Steep Me A Cup of Tea. The taste provided is natural to the herbs present in the blend. No flavorings added.
