Blender’s Notes Earl Grey Rooibos:

What is Red Rooibos Tea? Our Red Rooibos is a great alternative to a standard tea because it has no caffeine.  Many customers often use this as a wonderful desert tea option with low to no calories. It has such a soft and creamy taste and can be sweetened, and it will aid in digestion.  This blend has the great rich taste of Rooibos (pronounced ROY-boss) with no added enhancements.  This tea can be added to any of the other blends to increase antioxidants and Vitamin C.  It is very low in tannins and a great healthy heart option for tea lovers.
Red rooibos, also known as African red bush tea, originates from the Western Cape province of South Africa. Indigenous to the region, it has been enjoyed for centuries by the Khoisan people for its refreshing taste and health benefits.  The tea is made from the leaves of the Aspalathus linearis plant.  The newly picked leaves are oxidized and fermented. The leaves are also bruised using machines to ensure oxidization. This imparts a rich red color to the tea. This shrub, which belongs to the pea family and is naturally caffeine-free and rich in antioxidants. Rooibos is known for its unique flavor profile, which is sweet, nutty, and slightly earthy, making it a delightful alternative to traditional caffeinated teas.   In addition to its delicious taste, rooibos tea is known to have various health benefits, including supporting digestion, promoting heart health, and boosting the immune system.
Rooibos teas are free of caffeine. They are also rich in antioxidants and enhance iron absorption. This makes rooibos an excellent option for people who suffer from insomnia, headaches, increased heart rate ~ Low in tannins: People who have anemia can drink rooibos tea, because it does not interfere with iron absorption, unlike tannin-based teas ~ Could lower the risk of diabetes ~ May lower cholesterol and benefit cardiovascular health: drinking rooibos tea may improve cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Regular consumption may even lower blood pressure ~ Promote digestive health ~ May improve bone health: The calcium and magnesium content of rooibos can benefit bone health ~ Regular consumption may relieve seasonal allergies in some people.
What is Earl Grey?  Earl Grey is a wonderful combination of teas paired with Bergamot Oil and Orange Peel makes this a traditional favorite and really defines what an “Earl Grey” can be.  Bergamot Oil comes from the rind of the bergamot orange, and it is a bright citrus taste with a slightly bitter, aromatic peel character and a gentle floral lift. You’ll get a clean, perfumed zest—think somewhere between lemon and bitter orange—layered over whatever tea’s texture happens to be. It often carries a subtle lavender-like nuance and a faint peppery edge from the bergamot. The intensity can vary by brand, but the unmistakable signature is a lively, citrus-floral aroma with a smooth, lingering finish. While many tea houses will carry a version of Earl Grey, they will vary in taste due to the variations in the teas used for the blend and the quality of the bergamot oil.  We used a traditional blend of Wildcrafted teas from Sri Lanka and China and the highest quality of Bergamot Oil.  We then add the addition of our orange peel giving it a great look and a fuller and richer orange taste.
Besides the usual ingredients of Earl Grey, in this blend we added naturally sweet pieces of Freeze-Dried Strawberry and tart pieces of Freeze-Dried Rhubarb.  Then we added in the traditional High Quality Bergamot Oil giving it an Earl Grey -Ness but with a fun and fruity twist.  We also added in Safflowers and Rose Petals to balance the green tea astringency and the richness of Bergamot giving is a balanced taste and naturally sweet!  Check it out…a fun addition to your Earl Grey collection.

This combination of rooibos tea paired with Bergamot Oil and Orange Peel makes this a traditional favorite with a sweet finish.  Bergamot Oil comes from the rind of the bergamot orange.  We used an Organic Red Rooibos Tea and the highest quality or Bergamot Oil.  We then add the addition of orange peel and Cornflowers ~ giving it a great look and a fuller and richer orange taste!  Give this fun variation a try!
