Blender’s Notes Kidney ~ Bladder:
Steep Me Self Help combinations are a fantastic way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. This combination of herbs was built to help enhance the functionality of the urinary system with focus on the Kidneys and Bladder. The urinary system (or urinary tract) works as your body’s filtration system. When your urinary system removes toxins and wastes from your body, it comes out as pee (urine). To be able to pee, your body must pass this waste through a series of organs, ducts, and tubes. If there is a problem at any step in this process, it can affect you if you are able to pee normally. The main organs in your urinary system are: Two kidneys (blood-filtering organs). Two ureters (ducts that connect your kidneys to your bladder) A bladder (an organ that holds your pee). A urethra (a tube connected to your bladder that allows pee to leave your body). Your urinary system filters your blood to get rid of what your body does not need. It eliminates extra water and salt, toxins, and other waste products. Various parts of the urinary system perform tasks, including Filtering blood. Separating the toxins you do not need from the nutrients you do need. Storing and carrying pee out of your body. Your kidneys are an essential part of filtering your blood. Here is how the urinary system works: Your blood enters each kidney through lots of little arteries. Your kidneys filter your blood, separating toxins from nutrients. Vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and proteins return to your bloodstream. Waste products and pee move from your kidneys through your ureters and to your bladder. Your bladder stores your pee until you use the toilet. Pee leaves your body through your urethra. The kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra make up the urinary system. They all work together to filter, store, and remove liquid waste from your body. All the organs in your urinary system are in your abdominal and pelvic region. Here is what each organ does: Kidneys: These organs work constantly. They filter your blood and make pee, which your body then eliminates. You have two kidneys, one on either side of the back of your abdomen, just below your rib cage. Each kidney is about as big as your fist. Your kidneys work hard — they filter about 120 to 150 quarts (113.6 to 141.95 liters) of blood per day, which produces about 1 to 2 quarts (0.95 to 1.95 liters) of pee each day. Ureters: These two thin tubes inside your pelvis carry pee from your kidneys to your bladder. Each ureter is about nine inches long. Bladder: Your bladder holds pee until you are ready to empty it (pee). It is hollow, made of muscle, and shaped like a triangular balloon. Your bladder expands as it fills up. Most bladders can hold up to two cups (500 milliliters) of pee at a time. Peeing is when you empty your bladder. Urethra: This tube carries pee from your bladder out of your body. You have two sphincter muscles that close off your urethra to keep peeing when you are not using the toilet. These ring-like muscles open and close to let pee out. Sometimes, these muscles weaken, and it becomes hard to hold your pee in. Many conditions can affect your ureters, kidneys, bladder, and urethra. Infections, diseases, or problems can appear at birth or develop as you get older. Cancer can also affect certain parts of your urinary tract. Infections Urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can cause issues with your kidneys, urethra, or bladder. These infections occur when bacteria enter your urinary tract through your urethra. Your healthcare provider can prescribe medication (typically antibiotics) to treat an infection.
Kidney stones are small masses that form when waste products clump together. Kidney stones or ureteral stones (kidney stones that move to your ureter) can cause severe pain and block the flow of pee. Urination problems include loss of bladder control or urinary incontinence (leakage), causes pee to leak when you do not want it to. It can be worse when you cough, laugh, sneeze or jump. Overactive bladder happens when you feel the sudden urge to pee more often. Urinary retention is a condition where your bladder does not completely empty each time. Many of these conditions consist of lower urinary tract symptoms like an urge to pee, a weak urine stream and leaking pee. Medications and lifestyle modifications can help treat these conditions. Urinary tract obstructions Growths or tumors in any part of your urinary tract can affect the flow of pee. An enlarged prostate can block your ureter, so it is harder to pee. Other causes of ureteral obstruction include pregnancy and gastrointestinal (GI) issues like Crohn’s disease. Bladder outlet obstruction can also happen and prevent your bladder from emptying. Surgery can often help with obstructions in your urinary tract. Kidney disease is a common and serious condition that affects your urinary system. The most common causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are high blood pressure and diabetes. Managing blood pressure and blood sugar is crucial to lowering your risk of kidney disease. Kidney disease can lead to kidney failure. Kidney failure may require dialysis or a kidney transplant. Talk to your healthcare provider about your risk for kidney disease so you can take steps to lower your risk. You can try to keep your urinary system healthy with proper hygiene and a healthy lifestyle. To help your urinary system work the way it should, you can: Drink plenty of water: Staying hydrated will flush out your system and can help you prevent kidney stones and UTIs. Eat a balanced diet: Low-sodium, high-calcium foods may prevent kidney stones. Empty your bladder fully: Make sure you let all your pee out when you use the toilet. Do not hold pee in for extended periods of time. Wipe the right way: If you have a vagina, you should always wipe front to back after using the toilet. Proper wiping reduces the risk of bacteria getting into your vagina and causing a UTI. Empty your bladder after sex: If you have a vagina, you should use the bathroom after having sex. Peeing promptly can clear out bacteria and reduce your risk of a UTI. Practice safe sex: Protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections with a condom. Do pelvic floor exercises: Also called Kegel exercises, these can reduce your risk of urinary incontinence by strengthening the muscles in your pelvic floor. Keep your genital area clean: Use mild soap and water to clean your genitals and try to bathe or shower daily. Wear comfortable, loose underwear. In this blend we based it on our Chinese Sencha Green Tea. Green tea contains caffeine, which acts as a mild diuretic, increasing urine production and helping to flush out toxins from the body. Green tea contains polyphenols, including catechins like epigallocatechin (EGC), which have antimicrobial properties that can help prevent and treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). Green tea can inhibit the growth of bacteria responsible for UTIs and reduce bladder inflammation, which can alleviate symptoms of cystitis, and it contains oxalate, which can bind to calcium in the urinary tract and form crystals, potentially leading to irritation or infection. It can prevent kidney damage and is rich in polyphenol compounds called catechins, of which epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is the best-known and has displayed the greatest range of beneficial effects. These polyphenols bond to calcium oxalate and make the resulting crystals a different shape, which then makes them less likely to clump together and form large kidney stones. The smaller crystals and stones are then passed down harmlessly through the urine. These antioxidants fight the tissue damage caused by free radicals along with hampering the growth of pathogens such as certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Green tea is an astringent and diuretic, and both these properties make it useful in fighting infections of the urinary tract, bladder, and kidney. Cornsilk was added because it has been traditionally used to prevent and treat kidney problems. It soothes pain in urination caused by kidney stones, reduces inflammation, and treats fluid retention. Studies have also shown that corn silk is an effective diuretic and helps inhibit bacterial growth. Dandelion Root was included because it is a great add-in which contains Potassium to increase urine generation, which decreases the chances of any crystal formation or urinary infection. It also helps in the breakdown of any stone in the kidney. Sarsaparilla is used to help remedy the burning pain while urinating, due to a bladder infection. Uva Ursi was added to treat urinary tract and bladder infections due to its natural antibacterial properties contain the antibacterial chemicals hydroquinone and arbutin, as well as astringent tannins that shrink mucous membranes in the urinary system.
We then included our Steep Me Seaweed Blend. Seaweed is rich in iodine, which is essential for proper thyroid function and overall health. Seaweed contains compounds that have anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce inflammation in the bladder. Seaweed is rich in antioxidants that help protect the body from oxidative stress and damage. We also added Boldo Leaf because of its antimicrobial activity works to get rid of infectious agents, thus restoring and maintaining urinary tract health giving a natural way to prevent UTI’s. We added Goldenseal because it has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory nature, goldenseal can help to combat the discomfort caused by infections of the urinary tract. Drinking tea made from goldenseal helps reduce inflammation and can help flush away bacteria from your urinary tract. Self-heal because it promotes urination, helping to flush out toxins and maintain a healthy fluid balance in the body. Self-heal contains compounds that have antimicrobial effects, which can help prevent and treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). Self-heal has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce inflammation in the urinary tract. Marshmallow Leaf was added because it is an herbal medicine for kidneys. A diuretic and calming herb, marshmallow increases urine production, relieves pain, and helps remove kidney stones. Couch Grass is an herb that acts as a diuretic, increasing urine production and helping the kidneys clear out waste, salt, and excess water. It also soothes the bladder lining and benefits bladder health. Recent research is exposing its ability to reduce kidney stones and urinary tract infections. And finally, we added Elderflower. Elderflower promotes urination, helping to maintain a healthy fluid balance and reduce bloating and swelling. regular consumption of elderflower tea can support kidney health and improve overall fluid regulation. Elderflower contains compounds with anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce inflammation in the urinary tract.
