High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a problem that concerns an increasing number of people. It can cause unpleasant symptoms, including headaches, fatigue, and breathing difficulties. hypertension, affects 1 in 3 adults in the United States. When blood pressure is high, blood pushes too hard against the walls of your blood vessels, leading to heart disease, stroke, and even an increased risk of death. High blood pressure is the most preventable cause of heart disease. While medications are often prescribed, nutrition and exercise are important lifestyle measures that can help; interestingly, certain herbs and supplements may too. Blood pressure is measured in mm Hg (millimeters of mercury) with two numbers. The top (systolic) number indicates the force of your blood when your heart is beating, and the bottom (diastolic) number indicates the force of your blood when your heart is resting between beats. Normal blood pressure is considered 120/80 mm Hg. High blood pressure is diagnosed when your systolic value is above 130 mm Hg, your diastolic value is over 80 mm Hg, or both values are higher than these. 11 Best Herbs and Supplements for High Blood Pressure verywellhealth.com)
We based this blend on Hibiscus. Hibiscus has many diuretic and cholesterol-lowering effects. It is also considered one of the effective options for managing high blood pressure. Rich in anthocyanins and the most effective herbal for lowering both systolic and diastolic blood pressure and mild and moderate hypertension. It contains natural ACE inhibitors that help relax blood vessels and reduce blood pressure. Next, we added Borage and Holy Basil because they demonstrated blood pressure-lowering effects. Hawthorne was added because it helps with digestive problems and high blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Wakame because it has vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and lots of heart-healthy benefits which in turn helps with hypertension. Cornsilk was added because it encourages the elimination of excess fluid from your body. It is a natural alternative to prescribed diuretics, which are often used to reduce blood pressure and significantly reduced blood pressure by inhibiting the activity of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Next, we included Strawberry Leaf. Strawberry Leaf may improve blood vessel function and systolic blood pressure, has positive effect on endothelial functioning which allows for relaxation of the arteries, improving blood flow and reducing systolic blood pressure. Bilberry was added because it contains various nutrients, including anthocyanins, flavonoids, and phenolic acids, which give it its characteristic deep blue color and potent antioxidant properties. Bilberries contain vitamin K, which can help prevent blood clots that could cause a heart attack or stroke and can help to lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels. Bilberry’s antioxidant properties may help to reduce oxidative stress in the body, which is a key contributor to the development of high blood pressure and other chronic diseases. Olive Leaf because it has been shown to help prevent LDL cholesterol from building up in arteries, increasing blood flow and lowering blood pressure, which reduces the risk of heart disease. Polyphenols found in olive leaves have been found to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and consumption of phenolic-rich olive leaf extract can significantly reduce blood pressure in individuals with hypertension and have shown that olive leaf extract lowers blood pressure in people with hypertension, with results comparable to those from a popular blood pressure medication. Next, we included couch grass. Couch grass has hypoglycemic properties that support the lowering of high blood glucose levels and may help to control blood pressure. Finally, we added Passionflower. Passionflower can help with blood pressure levels due to the GABA-promoting properties of the herb.
