Blender’s Notes Nutrition Malabsorption ~ Micro-Nutrition:
Steep Me Micro-Nutrition combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits of different combinations of Vitamins and Minerals. With this blend we are providing a healthy and potent blend of minerals and vitamins for managing the way your body can absorb proper vitamins and mineral and other nutrition. What is any type of Malabsorption? Malabsorption is an umbrella term for a wide range of disorders that affect your ability to absorb nutrients from your food. Malabsorption can lead to indigestion and even malnutrition — not from a lack of eating enough nutrients, but from an inability to absorb them. You can think of digestion as a three-part process. The first part is breaking down food into digestible pieces. The second part is absorbing all the nutrients in your food. And the third part is eliminating the waste that is left over when all the good stuff has been absorbed. If you have digestive difficulties, the problem could be in any of these three stages (or several). Malabsorption disorders cover the second stage. They include specific food intolerances caused by enzyme deficiencies, as well as various gastrointestinal diseases that affect your digestive system. You can have general malabsorption, which affects your ability to absorb all nutrients, or you can have difficulties absorbing certain kinds of nutrients. Whatever you cannot absorb will pass undigested in your stools. People with malabsorption syndrome often have diarrhea as a side effect, which can make malabsorption worse. With diarrhea, food moves too fast through your bowels for nutrients to be absorbed. In the short term, malabsorption will cause gastrointestinal distress from the inability to digest certain foods. Over time, your body will start to show signs of deficiency in those nutrients that you cannot absorb. Deficiencies in any of the macronutrients — protein, fats, or carbohydrates — will cause signs of undernutrition, such as muscle wasting and reduced immunity. Deficiencies in micronutrients — vitamins and minerals — may affect your eyes, bones, skin, and hair. Your small intestine is where most of your nutrient absorption happens. (A small amount happens in your large intestine.) The mucous lining of your intestinal walls engages in both secreting digestive enzymes and absorbing liquefied food into your bloodstream. But inflammation (enteritis) and injury can damage this mucous membrane. The damage can be temporary (acute) or long-lasting (chronic). Some causes include Infectious diseases such as Whipple’s disease and tropical sprue. Inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Autoimmune diseases such as celiac disease. Overuse of certain drugs and medications. Alcohol use disorder. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Short bowel syndrome. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Overproduction of stomach acid, as in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Your pancreas, liver, and gallbladder all work together with the small intestine to break down food. Your pancreas makes important digestive enzymes, while your liver and gallbladder make and store bile, which is important for digesting fats. These organs deliver their substances to your small intestine when food is present. But if a disease stops them from doing their jobs, your small intestine will not be able to break food down enough to absorb it. Examples include Pancreatic insufficiency. Cystic fibrosis. Bile duct blockages. Gallbladder diseases. Liver disease. Your small intestine absorbs fats into your bloodstream through lymph vessels. Diseases of the lymphatic system that block these vessels can compromise the absorption of fats. Intestinal lymphangiectasia and lymphoma are two examples of this. Malabsorption of certain carbohydrates or proteins can occur as a side effect of gastrointestinal disease. (Fructose malabsorption is a common example.) But sometimes people are born lacking the necessary enzymes to break down certain nutrients. (Lactose intolerance is the most common example of this.) In this blend we based it on many herbs and minerals to get the body to start to absorb proper nutrition and improve your digestive function. We included Aloe. Aloe has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that may help to alleviate symptoms of diarrhea and abdominal pain. These soothing and anti-inflammatory properties can be beneficial for various digestive issues and malabsorption. Dandelion leaf has properties that may support digestive health because it contains the prebiotic fiber, inulin, which is helpful for maintaining a balanced digestive system, is high in vitamins A and C, potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and B vitamins, while the root is high in protein, iron, manganese, and phosphorus and dandelion works by increasing pressure within the stomach and relaxing the muscular sphincter between the stomach and the small intestine, which increases gastric motility. Steep Me Vitamin B Complex was also included because it helps your body convert carbohydrates into energy for your cells and it helps regulate appetite. Vitamin B is important for many digestive tract functions, including the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and alcohol. It can help your digestive system process the protein you eat, helps your body convert food into energy, and plays a role in the nervous system and the production of blood cells. A deficiency can cause anemia and can also cause neuropsychiatric syndromes and problems with gait. Marshmallow to lower or prevent heartburn, stomach ulcer symptoms, diarrhea, and constipation. Marshmallow coats the inside of the stomach and prevents acid from causing discomfort and “burning,” while also providing anti-inflammatory effects. Ginger encourages efficient digestion and helps food move through the gastrointestinal tract, alleviates gas, supports digestive enzymes, Reduces abdominal cramps, bloating, and indigestion. Increases gastric emptying, reducing the likelihood of heartburn or indigestion. Triphala helps the stomach break down food more easily. Balances stomach acid to prevent heartburn. Promotes the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut. Acts as a mild laxative to improve peristalsis and treat constipation. Cayenne because it is used to help digestion, including to treat upset stomach, slow intestinal gas, stop stomach pain, stop diarrhea and as a natural remedy for cramps. It is also used for conditions of the heart and blood vessels — including to improve poor circulation, reverse excessive blood clotting, lower high cholesterol and prevent heart disease. Arabinogalactan supports gut health due to its prebiotic properties. As a prebiotic, it helps promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, which can be beneficial for overall digestive health. L-glutamine has been shown to improve gut health by tightening loose junctures in the intestinal lining, reducing inflammation, and improving gut microbiota composition. It is also an important precursor for bioactive molecules and functions as a key neurotransmitter.
Steep Me Medicinal Mushrooms Medicinal mushrooms have adaptogenic properties that support healthy digestion and gut health. They contain prebiotic components known as polysaccharides–beta glucans, galactans, and chitin. Mushrooms can help balance your microbiome and fuel the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut. Having healthy levels of bacterial colonies is essential for digestive health. Medicinal mushrooms enhance gut health by promoting beneficial bacteria and reducing inflammation. They contain prebiotics and antioxidants that support the digestive system and protect against chronic illnesses. Cinnamon can have positive effects on digestion because it stimulates gastric juices and stomach acids, making digestion more efficient. Regular consumption may lower the risk of constipation, gas, bloating, cramping, and stomach upset. Slippery Elm is a natural remedy that can aid digestion by: Improving bowel regularity due to its mucilage content. Soothing irritation from IBS and relieving constipation by coating the stomach and gut. Reducing inflammation and irritation associated with gastrointestinal issues. Stimulating mucous secretion and balancing gut flora. We also included Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2. Vitamin D3 important for bone health and immune function, Help regulate calcium absorption Important for absorption of magnesium, phosphate, iron, and zinc, Protect the gut by influencing immune cell function and regulating inflammation, Enhance the diversity and richness of the microbiome, and increase healthy bacteria in the gut. When people eat vitamin K, bacteria in the large intestine convert it to its storage form, vitamin K2. Vitamin K is absorbed in the small intestine and stored in fatty tissue and the liver. Without vitamin K, the body cannot produce prothrombin, a clotting factor necessary for blood clotting and bone metabolism. Poor absorption of vitamin K can occur due to GI conditions, malabsorption, or certain medications. Vitamin K absorption requires intact pancreatic and biliary function and fat absorptive mechanisms. The body retains only about 30% to 40% of an oral physiological dose of vitamin K, with the rest being excreted in urine and feces. Fennel for digestion is great because they contain lots of antioxidants and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Because of this, they support natural digestive processes and are considered carminative agents. Fennel seeds also contain some vitamins like vitamin E, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Himalayan salt can have positive effects on digestion because the antioxidants in Himalayan salt help clear the digestive tract of toxins, making the digestion process easier. It helps improve digestion by balancing pH levels in the stomach and reducing acid reflux and indigestion. The minerals in Himalayan salt water can improve nutrient absorption from the foods you eat. Finally, L. Tyrosine was included because it is an amino acid that plays several important roles in the body, including the production of proteins, enzymes, and neurotransmitters like dopamine and adrenaline.
