Blender’s Notes Parkinson’s Helper Capsules:

Steep Me Self Help combinations are a fantastic way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. This combination of herbs was built to help the body manage the symptoms that accompany the diagnosis of Parkinson’s. This blend was built to help decrease the side effects of the disease and to help replace the dopamine that is reduced for patients of this diagnosis. What is Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s disease is a movement disorder of the nervous system that worsens over time. The nervous system is a network of nerve cells that controls many parts of the body, including movement. Symptoms start slowly. The first symptom may be a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand or sometimes a foot or the jaw. Tremor is common in Parkinson’s disease. But the disorder also may cause stiffness, slowing of movement and trouble with balance that raises the risk of falls. In the initial stages of Parkinson’s disease, your face may show little or no expression. Your arms may not swing when you walk. Your speech may become soft or slurred. Symptoms get worse over time. Parkinson’s disease symptoms can be different for everyone. Early symptoms may be mild, and you may not even notice them. Symptoms often begin on one side of the body, then affect both sides. Symptoms are usually worse on one side than the other. Some Parkinson’s disease symptoms are like those of other disorders. Parkinson’s symptoms may include Tremor. This rhythmic shaking usually begins in the hands or fingers. Sometimes tremors begin in the foot or jaw. You may rub your thumb and forefinger back and forth. This is known as a pill-rolling tremor. Your hand may tremble when it is at rest or when you are under stress. You may notice that you shake less when you are doing some sort of task or moving around. Slowed movement, also called bradykinesia. Parkinson’s disease may slow your movement, making simple tasks more difficult. It may be hard to get out of a chair, shower or get dressed. You may have less expression on your face. It may be hard to blink. Rigid muscles. You may have stiff muscles in any part of your body. Your muscles may feel tense and painful, and your arm movements may be short and jerky. Poor posture and balance. Your posture may become stooped. You may fall or have balance problems. Loss of automatic movements. You may be less able to make certain movements that you typically do without thinking, including blinking, smiling, or swinging your arms when you walk. Speech changes. You may speak softly or quickly, slur, or hesitate before talking. Your speech may be flat or monotone, without typical speech patterns. Writing changes. You may have trouble writing, and your writing may appear cramped and small. Nonmotor symptoms. These may include depression, anxiety, constipation, and sleep problems. They also may include acting out dreams, needing to urinate often, trouble smelling, problems with thinking and memory, and feeling very tired.  Parkinson’s disease – Symptoms and causes – Mayo Clinic

This blend was based on Chinese Sencha Green Tea, African Red Rooibos and South American Yerba Mate. The polyphenols in green tea, which are powerful antioxidants, have shown protective effects against neuronal loss and drinking green tea early may help delay the onset of Parkinson’s symptoms. The polyphenols in this green tea can also block the back flow of dopamine which causes rigid muscles and tremors. This will ease these movements and can slow their progress. Green Tea can help Cells Regenerate. Parkinson’s is characterized by a loss of neurons in the brain that leads to the death of brain cells. Rooibos tea, known for its rich antioxidant content may help protect against stress-related free radicals, which are implicated in diseases such as Parkinson’s. Rooibos has a protective effect on the body. We also included Green Yerba Mate which has compounds that could help protect neurons responsible for body motion suggesting a possible protective role of this tea. Yerba Mate has historically been found to reduce the likelihood of Parkinson’s Disease by more than a third. We also included Mucuna Pruriens contains an important compound called levodopa (L-dopa), which is the precursor to dopamine. Dopamine is a brain chemical naturally produced by your body that is sometimes used to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Researchers have looked at M. pruriens as a potential alternative treatment for PD. It may have a faster onset of action and last longer than carbidopa/levodopa without increasing dyskinesias. It works by increasing serum dopamine levels due to its high content of L-DOPA, a natural precursor to dopamine. California Poppy was included because it is known for its calming and sleep-promoting effects and used for pain relief and to improve sleep. Next, we added Belladonna. Belladonna has an anticholinergic property that can prevent the release of acetylcholine, the main substance that. promotes the chemical reaction in the brain that leads to the main symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Brahmi was added because it has also been included due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps protect against neurodegeneration, improve motor function, and reduce tremors associated with Parkinson’s and it may enhance dopamine levels and reduce oxidative stress, which are crucial factors in managing Parkinson’s.

Next, we added Turmeric. Turmeric contains curcumin which increases the content of glutathione (GSH), an antioxidant in certain nerve cells of the brain that control body movement. Turmeric compounds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, prevents oxidative damage to brain cells, helps prevent or slow down Parkinson’s disease and turmeric compounds may counteract genetics that increase the risk of developing Parkinson’s. Burdock because it contains powerful antioxidants like quercetin, luteolin, and phenolic acids, which help protect cells from damage by free radicals and reduce inflammation and it can help purify the blood by removing toxins, which can improve overall health. It contains inulin, a prebiotic fiber that aids digestion and improves gut health, can help lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity, and may inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells. Semen Cuscutae because it has the potential neuroprotective benefits that may be relevant for treating neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease (PD). Semen Cuscutae can help protect nerve cells from damage and degeneration. It demonstrated the ability to reduce neurotoxicity and oxidative stress, which are key factors in the progression of PD and its high flavonoid content and strong antioxidant properties contribute to its neuroprotective effects. Semen Cuscutae is a complementary treatment for managing Parkinson’s disease. Cramp Bark was added because it can be used to relieve muscle cramps and spasms. In Parkinson’s disease, muscle cramps and dystonia (painful muscle contractions) are common symptoms. These cramps often occur in the legs, feet, and other parts of the body, and can be quite painful. Passionflower to work as a mild sedative and to treat anxiety and restlessness – which often occur with Parkinson’s. Passionflower contains substantial amounts of harmine and harmaline which is effective against Parkinson’s Disease. It also contains flavonoids, 8-pyrone derivatives and alkaloids which help manage Parkinson’s symptoms. Finally, we added Gingko. Ginkgo has been studied for its potential benefits in managing Parkinson’s disease (PD). It may help reduce inflammation, improve brain function, and aid in dopamine delivery, which is crucial for managing PD symptoms and has neuroprotective effects due to its antioxidant qualities.

When talking about the many types of tea, Tisane (Herbal Infusion) or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is really not tea at all.  It is made like a tea and all the same items are used to make it, but it does not contain the Camellia Sinensis Plant (unless stated), but is simply roots, flowers, leaves, and fruits put together is a combination that is made just like a tea.  With that being said…the health benefits of a Tisane or Herbal teas are different.  They can vary depending on the ingredients and combination of herbs so there are no blanket health benefits – just depends on the ingredients.

For many, the best part of Tisane or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is the fact that it is caffeine free naturally.  Of course there are herbs that can be added to change that.  The most popular Herbal teas include Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, and any combination of fruit blends or infusions.  Our Self-Help Teas are simply supplemental herbal combinations to aid with an occasional ailment specific to what may be happening in your life.  The teas are built to work and are not build with any specific flavorings.  The blends are tested to the minimum requirements laid out by Steep Me A Cup of Tea.  The taste provided is natural to the herbs present in the blend.  No flavorings added.
