Blender’s Notes Prostate Health Capsules:
Steep Me Self-help Tea combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. In this combination of herbs, we really wanted to offer a blend to help manage and regulate the health of the Prostate. We focus on reducing the most common aliment of an enlarged prostate which in turn will help with reducing urgency and increasing the amount of output in the bathroom. I will help slow the growth of prostate cells keeping the prostate from enlarging and I also have herbs to help prevent cancer –helping keep the chances of Prostate cancer extremely low. What is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a frequent problem that men experience as they age. Men over 50 have a 50 percent chance of having BPH, while men over 80 have a 90 percent chance of developing the condition. It occurs when the prostate enlarges to twice or even three times its size, pressing against the urethra and resulting in restricted/ obstructed urine flow. This is also sometimes referred to as prostatomegaly. Because of this obstructed flow, lower urinary tract symptoms manifest. An enlarged prostate can cause urinary and sexual difficulties. However, several natural remedies and lifestyle changes, such as double voiding and exercise, can slow or stop prostate growth. Prostate enlargement, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), occurs when an accumulation of androgens prevents prostatic cell death and promotes cell proliferation, increasing the size of the prostate gland. BPH is not usually a severe health threat, although it can affect a person’s quality of life. If prostate gland enlargement begins to cause symptoms, a person may consider certain home remedies, such as saw palmetto, or changes in behavior, such as limiting fluid intake before bed, that can help to ease urinary symptoms. Men between ages 51 and 60 have BPH and around 90 percent of men over age 80 live with the condition. Because of the location of the prostate gland, when it enlarges, it can interfere with the ability to urinate properly. It constricts the urethra and puts pressure on the bladder, leading to complications such as leakage, a reduced ability to urinate, and a weak urine stream. Over time, BPH can lead to incontinence, damage to the bladder and kidneys, urinary tract infections, and bladder stones. It is these complications and symptoms that send many looking for treatment. If the prostate did not press upon the urethra and bladder, BPH might not require treatment.

Inflammation or enlargement of the prostate and other kinds of reproductive conditions are on the increase with each successive generation, affecting men at an earlier age. The good news is that most prostate problems can be prevented, and they respond well to herbal treatment. The prostate gland produces a fluid that makes up a considerable proportion of the volume of semen when a man ejaculates. This gland sits directly under the urinary bladder and in front of the rectum. The urethra passes through the prostate immediately after exiting the bladder. There are three major types of conditions that affect the prostate. Prostatitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the prostate which may or may not be due to infection; chronic non-infectious prostatitis is by far the most ordinary form. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an enlargement of the prostate due to an increase in the reproductive rate and number of certain types of prostate cells. Prostate cancer is the third and most serious of these conditions. The urinary tract and rectum are organs through which most of the waste products and toxins in our body are eliminated. The higher the level of toxicity in a person’s body, the higher the level of toxicity present in their urine and feces. The proximity of the prostate to these organs makes it very susceptible to an accumulation of toxicity – both as urine passes through the prostate, and as toxins leach out of urine stored in the bladder and feces stored in the rectum between bowel movements. The primary cause of most prostate conditions is toxicity in general, and hormone disruptors in particular. Hormone disruptors include pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, plus chemicals that leach into foods and drinks stored or heated in plastic or plastic-lined containers, foods cooked in cookware with non-stick coatings, and chemicals in cleaning and cosmetic products. Additional hormone disruption can arise from the free-floating estrogen in our water supply (estrogen is excreted in the urine of women on hormone replacement therapy or oral contraceptives). In fact, all sources of toxicity in our food, water, home, and work environments can potentially aggravate prostate inflammation. In addition to toxicity issues, there are other factors linked to prostate conditions. These include consumption of red meats and dairy products; consumption of trans fats; over-consumption of omega-6 fatty acids relative to the amount of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet; obesity; vasectomies; and excessive or low levels of sexual activity, especially forced celibacy as is practiced by some clergy and in some spiritual traditions. Regarding celibacy, there appears to be a difference between people who are highly evolved spiritual beings that have transcended sexuality and have no sexual desire, and people who practice celibacy as a forced spiritual discipline. When sexual desire naturally drops away for spiritual reasons, it does not seem to lead to prostate conditions. However, this is not the case when people subdue sexual desire for psychological reasons.
Prostate Health: Herbs for Treating Inflammation – Vitality Magazine
In this blend, we started out with a great Organic Chinese Green Tea. Green tea has positive effects on the prostate gland, including protection against prostate cancer. The powerful antioxidants and other few compounds in green tea reduce the symptoms of prostate enlargement. The catechins in green tea have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Green tea catechins lower PSA levels and may lower the risk of prostate cancer in men at elevated risk for the disease. Green tea is rich in polyphenols that are important for prostate health. Next, we added in a large amount of Pomegranate. Pomegranates are rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties, which may help protect cells from damage. Pomegranate can help inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells and reduce PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels and can significantly reduce prostate enlargement and cancer risk. We also included Oregano and Rosemary. Oregano has been found to have potential benefits for prostate health. Specifically, carvacrol, an ingredient in oregano, has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties and antibacterial compounds that could be used to manage prostate cancer. Oregano has been found to function as a cleansing agent for the prostate, purging all hidden infections. Oregano is also effective in treating prostate infections caused by bacteria such as E. coli, Proteus, or Pseudomonas. Rosemary has compounds called carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid, may have anticancer properties. These compounds have been found to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells and induce cell death. Additionally, rosemary’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, which are factors in the development and progression of prostate cancer. Saw Palmetto, derived from the fruit of the Serenoa repens tree contain fatty acids, flavonoids, and beta-sitosterol that decrease prostate inflammation and is commonly used to manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition characterized by an enlarged prostate. BPH can lead to urinary issues such as frequent urination, difficulty starting and maintaining urination, and the need to urinate at night. It does this by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is associated with prostate growth. Saw palmetto also alters certain hormone levels that affect prostate size. This herb contains the amino acid tyramine, which relaxes the tissues surrounding the prostate, permitting greater flow. Since tyramine can trigger migraines, men who are prone to migraines should avoid it. Another, well-researched effect of the herb is to prevent the conversion of testosterone to its active form. This action slows prostate growth but can also interfere with erections. The best use of the herb is for preventing swelling after prostate surgery.
We then added Ginger. Ginger contains compounds that have strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. These properties help protect the prostate from damage and inflammation. Ginger can inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells and even reduce the size of tumors. This is due to its ability to block certain enzymes that promote cancer development. Ginger is rich in vitamins and minerals like vitamin C and zinc, which boost the immune system and help protect the body from infections and inflammation. Turmeric was included because curcumin is a powerful weapon against inflammation, even matching the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, aspirin, tamoxifen, sulindac, and naproxen, but without the negative side effects. Research has also suggested that it may have anti-cancer properties. Curcumin and turmeric were effective at stopping the spread and growth of cancer cells. Nettles was added because it provides an abundance of nutritional benefits, offering iron, magnesium, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B6, and plenty of dietary fiber. It is used as an alternative remedy for numerous different conditions including arthritis, hay fever, and to induce lactation. Stinging nettle extract is also useful for prostate health, for which it is often recommended in combination with other treatments such as saw palmetto. Research revealed that nettles could fight prostate cancer cells. Next, we added Uva Ursi. Uva Ursi, also known as bearberry, is a medicinal herb traditionally used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs). It has been suggested to aid prostate health, particularly in managing bacterial prostatitis, which is an inflammatory infection of the prostate. Uva ursi contains arbutin, which breaks down into hydroquinone, a compound with antibacterial effects. This can help counter the growth of bacteria that cause prostatitis. The tannins in uva ursi function as astringents, which can help reduce inflammation and fight infections.
We also included Black Cumin. Black Cumin contains thymoquinone, a compound known for its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. These properties can help protect prostate cells from damage caused by oxidative stress, which is linked to the development of prostate cancer. Black cumin may help reduce symptoms of BPH, a common condition in older men where the prostate gland enlarges and causes urinary issues. The antioxidant properties of black cumin may also play a role in preventing prostate cancer by neutralizing harmful free radicals. Maca Root can help reduce prostate size and alleviate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH); a condition characterized by an enlarged prostate. This effect is believed to be due to the presence of glucosinolates, which have anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties. Epimedium, commonly known as horny goat weed, is an herb often used for its potential health benefits, particularly in improving sexual function and increasing blood flow. Holy Basil was added because it contains a compound called ursolic acid, which has shown promise in research for its anti-cancer properties. Ursolic acid can inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells and may even enhance the effectiveness of certain chemotherapy drugs like docetaxel. Holy basil is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can contribute to overall prostate health. Finally, we added Skullcap. Skullcap may inhibit the growth and proliferation of prostate cancer cells. This effect is attributed to certain compounds in the plant, such as baicalein, which have shown promise in reducing prostate cancer growth in animal studies.
