Blender’s Notes Candida:
Steep Me Self-help Tea combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. In this combination of herbs, we really wanted to offer a blend to help manage and regulate the excess yeast that is commonly called Candida. What is candidiasis? Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of a type of yeast that lives on your body (Candida albicans). A candidiasis infection often appears on your skin, vagina, or mouth, where Candida naturally lives in tiny amounts. Healthy bacteria on your body prevent yeast overgrowth. Imagine you have a two-armed scale with healthy bacteria on one side and yeast on the other. The scale stays balanced until disruption occurs from stress, a poor diet, a weakened immune system, or an uncontrolled medical condition. When something disrupts your scale, a Candidiasis infection occurs. Since yeast naturally lives in your body, there are several types of candidiasis based on the location of the infection. Types of candidiasis include Vaginal candidiasis (vaginitis): A common infection that causes burning, itching, redness and discharge from your vagina. Cutaneous candidiasis: An infection on your skin that creates a raised, red patch with small, itchy bumps that form in folds of your skin, like in your underarms, under your breasts and near your buttocks (diaper rash) or groin. Oral candidiasis (thrush): An infection that causes white sores in your mouth, throat, esophagus, or tongue. Candida granuloma: A severe, chronic infection that targets your skin, scalp, mouth, or fingernails. Invasive candidiasis (systemic candidiasis): A serious infection that occurs throughout your body, often in your bloodstream or on the membrane lining of your heart or skull, because of an immune deficiency. In this blend we included Pau d’ Arco. Pau d’ Arco has shown promising results in combating Candida infections. It contains compounds like lapachol and beta-lapachone, which have strong antifungal properties and can inhibit various Candida species, including the common drug-resistant strain Candida albicans. Pau d’ Arco has been noted for its ability to support the immune system and detoxify the body, making it a valuable supplement for those dealing with Candida overgrowth. It can also help in maintaining gut health by promoting a balanced microbiome. Next, we added Mullein. Mullein has shown antimicrobial activity against various pathogens, including Candida albicans. It can help manage Candida overgrowth. It provides some benefits for Candida due to its antimicrobial properties. Dong Quai was added because it contains phytochemicals with antifungal properties that can help clear Candida yeast infections. It is well-known for its hormone-balancing benefits, which can indirectly support the body’s ability to manage Candida overgrowth by promoting a healthy inner ecology. Dong Quai acts as a blood tonic, boosting circulation, which can help in delivering nutrients and immune cells more effectively throughout the body. Echinacea was added because it can be used to support the immune system and can be beneficial in managing Candida because it can help your body fight off infections, including fungal infections like Candida. It can reduce inflammation, which is helpful since Candida overgrowth often causes inflammation in the gut. Echinacea may help lower blood sugar levels, which can be beneficial because high blood sugar can promote Candida growth. Black Cohosh because it is primarily known for its benefits in managing menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes and night sweats. It has also been used traditionally to alleviate pain and support the nervous system. And finally, we added Helichrysum. Helichrysum has antifungal properties that can help inhibit the growth of Candida. It contains compounds like acetophenones, phloroglucinols, and terpenoids, which are believed to contribute to its antifungal effects.
