Blender’s Notes Heartburn Helper:
Steep Me Self-Help combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. In this combination of herbs, we really wanted to offer a blend to provide relief for your Heartburn. Plus, this tea was built specifically for expecting breast feeding mommies, so with that in mind, anyone can drink the tea. What is Heartburn? Heartburn is a painful, burning feeling in the middle of your chest. It is not really in your heart, though. It is caused by stomach acid rising into your esophagus (reflux), which runs through your chest, close to your heart. Heartburn is an occasional symptom for many people, and a chronic condition for others, occurring frequently. When it is chronic, you might have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Heartburn feels like acid burning in your chest, which is close to what it is. Your esophagus, the swallowing tube that begins at your throat, travels down through the middle of your chest to reach your stomach. Heartburn begins in this tube, but the feeling often radiates through your chest and sometimes into your throat. It is a burning sensation that can be mild to severe. Heartburn: What It Feels Like, Causes & Treatment (clevelandclinic.org)
We base this tea off Almonds and Papaya. Almonds are alkaline, which can help neutralize stomach acid and potentially alleviate heartburn symptoms. Papaya has an enzyme called papain, which aids in digestion and can help reduce symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux. Additionally, papayas are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that can soothe the digestive tract. Next, we included Marshmallow because it is known for its soothing properties and can be quite effective in relieving heartburn. It works by creating a protective coating on the lining of the stomach and esophagus, which helps to reduce irritation caused by stomach acid. This mucilage barrier can alleviate symptoms such as burning, and discomfort associated with acid reflux. Fennel because it can be quite effective in alleviating heartburn. Fennel helps relax the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal system, which can reduce spasm and discomfort. It can help reduce inflammation in the stomach lining, which is often a cause of heartburn. Fennel aids in expelling gas from the digestive tract, which can relieve bloating and pressure that contribute to heartburn. Slippery Elm can help alleviate symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It contains mucilage that coats the esophagus and protects it from stomach acid. Slippery elm may be a better alternative than acid-suppressive drugs for people suffering from gastric irritation and GERD. Fenugreek because it has been found to help with heartburn and acid reflux. It works by forming a gel-like substance in the stomach, which can ease digestion and prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. Finally, we added Ginger. Ginger can help alleviate symptoms of heartburn and indigestion due to its digestive stimulant properties. It can reduce symptoms of dyspepsia, which include heartburn.

Benefits
When talking about the many types of tea, Tisane (Herbal Infusion) or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is really not tea at all. It is made like a tea and all the same items are used to make it, but it does not contain the Camellia Sinensis Plant (unless stated), but is simply roots, flowers, leaves, and fruits put together is a combination that is made just like a tea. With that being said…the health benefits of a Tisane or Herbal teas are different. They can vary depending on the ingredients and combination of herbs so there are no blanket health benefits – just depends on the ingredients. For many, the best part of Tisane or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is the fact that it is caffeine free naturally. Of course there are herbs that can be added to change that. The most popular Herbal teas include Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, and any combination of fruit blends or infusions. Our Self-Help Teas are simply supplemental herbal combinations to aid with an occasional ailment specific to what may be happening in your life. The teas are built to work and are not build with any specific flavorings. The blends are tested to the minimum requirements laid out by Steep Me A Cup of Tea. The taste provided is natural to the herbs present in the blend. No flavorings added. This/these claim(s) has/have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
