Blender’s Notes Hot Flash:

Steep Me Self-Help Tea combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits outside of the standard tea leaf. This tea will help was developed to help with perimenopause or menopause hot flashes that can be one of the most uncomfortable and frustrating symptoms. The sudden surges of heat and sweating can disrupt the simplest daily tasks, leaving you feeling drained and overwhelmed. A hot flash is a feeling of sudden, intense heat on the upper body that lasts anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. Hot flashes are thought to occur when a drop in estrogen (or changes in other hormones) disrupts the body’s natural thermostat, known as the hypothalamus. Other symptoms include sweating, reddening of the skin, headaches, lightheadedness, and heart palpitations. Hot flashes, also known as vasomotor symptoms (VMS), are commonly associated with menopause or Perimenopause but can also be caused by medication side effects, thyroid or pituitary problems, and certain cancers or cancer treatments. Even males with low testosterone can experience hot flashes. Hot flashes are one of the most common symptoms of menopause. In fact, more than 80% of people experience hot flashes during menopause, generally when menopause is first starting. Hot flashes during menopause are due to a decrease in the hormone estrogen. Estrogen has many effects on the human brain and, along with the hormone testosterone, helps regulate a part of the brain called the hypothalamus that acts as the body’s thermostat. When estrogen levels drop, the imbalance in hormones causes the hypothalamus to think that the body is hotter than it is. The hypothalamus responds by activating your sweat glands, increasing your heart rate, and widening blood vessels near the surface of the skin to cool the body down. The sudden flush of heat usually starts in the face or chest and can spread throughout the entire body. Episodes can last anywhere from a few seconds to up to 30 minutes. Hot flashes tend to start abruptly and end just as quickly. When hot flashes occur at night, they are commonly referred to as night sweats. Hot Flashes: 10 Causes and How to Cope (verywellhealth.com)

Hot Flash was built to use in the Morning and Drank All Day for the tea or Capsules taken throughout the day. Hot Flash is meant to help minimize the changes to you through hormone imbalances. The tea or capsules can be taken proactively if you can predict those moments when you know the Hot Flashes will appear. Many women use it consistently before bed as a nighttime to keep those sneaky trivial things from appearing…if the symptoms disappear, discontinue use. Then use it as needed!

In this blend we started with Peppermint. Peppermint can help with menopause by producing a rapid, pleasant cooling sensation (menthol acting on cold receptors), which eases the subjective intensity of hot flashes and can also soothe headaches and digestive upsetting. Peppermint’s menthol activates cold‑sensing TRPM8 receptors, creating a strong perception of coolness that can quickly reduce the discomfort of a hot flash, and these aromatic compounds can ease tension headaches and mild nausea that sometimes accompany hot flashes or perimenopause. Peppermint tea can help relax GI smooth muscle and reduce bloating or indigestion, which many people notice during hormonal shifts and Peppermint does not change estrogen levels; it provides immediate sensory relief rather than altering underlying menopausal physiology. Next, we added in Sage. Sage (Salvia officinalis) can reduce the number of hot flashes and night sweats, may improve sleep and mood. Sage shows meaningful drops in sweating episodes, which often improves sleep continuity. Antioxidant and neuroactive compounds in sage are linked to better mood, concentration, and reduced anxiety. Polyphenols in sage reduce oxidative stress and inflammation that can worsen menopausal symptoms. Antioxidant and neuroactive compounds in sage are linked to better mood, concentration, and reduced anxiety and meaningful drops in sweating, which often improves sleep continuity. Black Cohosh was included because it can modestly reduce some menopausal symptoms (including hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, and mood changes and may help decrease your Hot Flash frequency and severity. Black Cohosh can help you sleep longer and wake less often, partly because nighttime flashes may ease which can improve sleep continuity and it show improvements in anxiety, concentration, and fatigue during menopause. Borage was included because it may help some menopausal symptoms by supplying gamma‑linolenic acid (GLA), an anti‑inflammatory fatty acid that can ease dryness, mood swings, and hot‑flash–related inflammation. Borage is rich in gamma‑linolenic acid (GLA), an omega‑6 fatty acid that converts to anti‑inflammatory mediators and may reduce inflammatory symptoms that worsen during menopause. Licorice Root because it can ease some menopausal symptoms—especially hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness—through mild estrogen‑like and cortisol‑modulating actions. Licorice contains compound  isoliquiritigenin that show weak estrogen‑like activity and may lower vasomotor symptoms. Licorice can modulate cortisol metabolism, which may ease stress‑related mood swings and fatigue during menopause. Estrogen‑mimicking flavonoids can improve mucosal lubrication and skin hydration and flavonoids in licorice reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which can help joint aches and general wellbeing.

We also included Angelica. Angelica is traditionally used to ease menopausal symptoms—especially hot flashes, mood swings, and circulation‑related complaints—and may offer antioxidant, anti‑inflammatory, and mild hormone‑modulating effects and benefits for mood swings and mild depressive symptoms during the menopausal transition. Angelica contains multiple active compounds that may modulate circulation, influence mild estrogenic pathways, and function as adaptogens to help the body respond to stressors. Next, we added Rosemary. Rosemary can help with menopause by providing rapid cooling and symptomatic relief, anti‑inflammatory and antioxidant support with cognitive/mood benefits that may ease brain fog and anxiety. Peppermint‑like aromatics in rosemary can create a perceptual cooling and reduce the subjective intensity of hot flashes. Compounds such as carnosic and rosmarinic acid provide measurable antioxidant and anti‑inflammatory effects that may reduce systemic inflammation linked to fatigue, joint pain, and general menopausal discomfort. Rosemary has been associated with improved memory, attention, and reduced anxiety which can help with the “brain fog” and mood swings many people report during menopause and rosemary’s compounds may protect neurons and support long‑term brain health, a useful consideration as cognitive concerns rise with age. Nettle’s benefits come from anti‑inflammatory flavonoids, mineral content, and bioactive lectins that modulate immune and metabolic pathways. It may reduce inflammation, ease joint pain, support energy, and iron status, and help with mild vasomotor symptoms. Nettle contains polyphenols and bioactive compounds that reduce inflammation and may ease joint and muscle aches and improvements in hot‑flash intensity and overall menopausal transition. Finally, we added in Motherwort. is a traditional nervine and cardiotonic herb that can help with anxiety, palpitations, sleep disturbance, and stress‑related symptoms during menopause. Motherwort is traditionally used as a nervine to reduce worry and nervous agitation, which many people find helpful during menopausal mood swings. Sedative‑like, calming properties can help with sleep onset and nighttime restlessness common in the transition and used for cramps and uterine tone, which informs its use across reproductive life stages.

When talking about the many types of tea, Tisane (Herbal Infusion) or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is really not tea at all.  It is made like a tea and all the same items are used to make it, but it does not contain the Camellia Sinensis Plant (unless stated), but is simply roots, flowers, leaves, and fruits put together is a combination that is made just like a tea.  With that being said…the health benefits of a Tisane or Herbal teas are different.  They can vary depending on the ingredients and combination of herbs so there are no blanket health benefits – just depends on the ingredients.

For many, the best part of Tisane or Herbal Tea or Self-Help Tea is the fact that it is caffeine free naturally.  Of course there are herbs that can be added to change that.  The most popular Herbal teas include Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, and any combination of fruit blends or infusions.  Our Self-Help Teas are simply supplemental herbal combinations to aid with an occasional ailment specific to what may be happening in your life.  The teas are built to work and are not build with any specific flavorings.  The blends are tested to the minimum requirements laid out by Steep Me A Cup of Tea.  The taste provided is natural to the herbs present in the blend.  No flavorings added.
