Blenders Notes Formosa Green Dragon:

Formosa Green Dragon Oolong is a premium tea originating from Taiwan, specifically known for its light and floral flavor profile. This semi-oxidized tea is celebrated for its unique characteristics that blend elements of both green and black teas. Formosa Green Dragon Oolong is known for its light, floral notes and creamy texture, distinguishing it from other oolongs that may have deeper, roasted flavors. This tea typically features a more delicate profile compared to darker oolongs, which can have stronger, more complex tastes.  The leaves are Semi-Oxidized meaning this method of processing allows it to retain qualities of both green and black teas, resulting in a complex flavor.  This blend is sourced from well-formed leaves, often including buds, which contribute to its rich taste.  Formosa Green Dragon Oolong tea offers several health benefits, including promoting heart health by potentially lowering bad cholesterol levels and aiding in weight management through increased metabolism. Additionally, it contains antioxidants that may improve skin health and enhance mental clarity. Typically has a medium caffeine level, making it a suitable choice for those looking for a gentle energy boost.

When talking about the many types of tea, Oolong is a fun tea falling in between Green and Black Tea depending on how much it is oxidized.  The primary countries that export Oolong are China (mainstream) and Taiwan (high end) teas. We carry mostly Green Oolong from China in our blends because it pairs well with the fruits we add to the teas.  We also carry some speciality Oolongs from Taiwan.

The original origin of Oolong is from high elevation regions where the mountains are rocky with cooler temperatures.   The leaf is left unfermented making it a green Oolong or it may be fully oxidized making it a Black Tea. Either way this tea leaves a fresh golden after taste in the mouth!  Wonderful and unique flavor.
