Blender’s Notes Fever ~ Infection Fighter ~ Micro-Nutrition ~ Steep Me Glutathione Blend:

Steep Me Micro-Nutrition combinations are a wonderful way to get health benefits from different combinations of Vitamins and Minerals. With this blend we are working toward reducing a fever ~ fighting the infection that can cause a fever. A fever is when your body temperature rises higher than normal. A fever itself is not an illness. Rather, it is a symptom of a wide range of health conditions. When your body temperature rises a few degrees above normal, it can be a sign that your immune system has been activated, often to fight an infection. A fever has many causes and can be a symptom of almost any illness. Common conditions that cause fever include ~ Bacterial infections ~ Viral infections such as influenza or COVID-19 ~ Gastrointestinal (GI) infections ~ Urinary tract infections ~ Skin infections.

In this blend we start out with White Willow Bark. White willow (Salix alba) bark is one of the classic herbal remedies for fever and infection, historically considered “nature’s aspirin.” Its benefits come from salicin and related compounds that reduce fever, inflammation, and pain, while also supporting the body’s immune response. White Willow Bark contains Salicin which is metabolized into salicylic acid, which lowers fever by reducing prostaglandin activity. Commonly used for febrile illnesses, influenza, and “heat” conditions. White willow calms systemic inflammation, easing fever-related aches, sore throat, and respiratory irritation and is useful in infections where inflammation drives symptoms (e.g., colds, flu, bronchitis). It has analgesic (Pain-Relieving) Properties which helps reduce headache, muscle pain, and joint pain often accompanying fever and infection and provides a gentler alternative to synthetic aspirin, with slower onset but longer-lasting relief. By lowering fever and inflammation, white willow helps the body conserve energy for immune defense and is often paired with antimicrobial herbs like garlic to address the root infection. With that the next ingredient is Garlic. Garlic was included because it is used traditionally to help fight fever and infection through its compound allicin, which has strong antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Allicin can disrupt viral replication and bacterial growth, making garlic a natural broad-spectrum antimicrobial. Garlic stimulates macrophages, lymphocytes, and natural killer cells, enhancing the body’s ability to fight pathogens. Garlic reduces cytokine activity and oxidative stress, helping calm fever-related inflammation which makes it useful for respiratory infections, sore throats, and systemic inflammation. Next, we included Feverfew. Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is best known for migraine prevention, but traditionally it was also used to reduce fever and support the body during infections. Its benefits in this context come from its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and immune-modulating properties. The name feverfew comes from its traditional use as a fever remedy and used to “cool the body” and reduce feverish states. Feverfew contains parthenolide, a sesquiterpene lactone that inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandins which helps reduce fever-related inflammation and systemic discomfort. Feverfew extracts show antibacterial and antifungal properties while it supports immune balance by calming excessive inflammation while still allowing pathogen defense. Next, we added Chlorella since it supports the body’s ability to fight infection through immune modulation, detoxification, and nutrient density. Chlorella stimulates macrophages, T-cells, and natural killer cells, enhancing the body’s ability to identify and destroy pathogens and it increases production of interferon, a signaling protein that helps fight viral infections. It does have antibacterial and antiviral activity, supporting the body in resisting infections while reducing the severity of colds and flu-like illnesses by strengthening host defenses. Chlorella binds to heavy metals, mycotoxins, and other toxins, reducing systemic burden during infection by lowering toxic load, the immune system can focus more effectively on fighting pathogens. Chlorella is rich in vitamin C, zinc, iron, chlorophyll, and B vitamins. Chlorella provides essential cofactors for immune resilience which are critical for fever recovery, energy metabolism, and tissue repair. Chlorella reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress, which can help modulate fever-related inflammation.

Next, we added in Mahasudarshan. Mahasudarshan Ayurvedic formulation has been widely used for fever (jvara) and infections. It is a polyherbal blend, with Swertia chirata (Chirayata) as the chief ingredient, supported by dozens of other bitter, cooling, and detoxifying herbs. It contains Swertia chirata, neem, kutki, and other bitter principles with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and is useful in respiratory infections, digestive infections, and skin eruptions linked to microbial imbalance. Mahasudarshan has antipyretic (Fever-Reducing) Action and can be used for acute and chronic fevers and its main ingredient, Chirata and other bitter herbs help “clear heat” and reduce elevated body temperature. IT can help the body resist recurrent infections and supports recovery and supports liver function, aiding detoxification during infection. Aspen Leaf is valued in herbal medicine for their fever-reducing, pain-relieving, and antimicrobial properties, making them supportive in fighting infections. Aspen Leaf contains salicin, a compound metabolized into salicylic acid in the body, like aspirin. This gives it antipyretic properties, helping lower fever by inhibiting prostaglandins involved in inflammation and temperature regulation. The salicylates in aspen reduce swelling and discomfort from infections, headaches, muscle aches, and joint pain. This makes it useful when fever is accompanied by body aches. Aspen Leaf shows antimicrobial activity, helping the body resist bacterial and viral infections. Traditionally, decoctions were used for urinary tract infections, colds, and respiratory issues and it has expectorant and anti-inflammatory properties that can ease respiratory infections, reduce bronchial constriction, and improve lung function. Saussurea was included for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immune-supportive properties. It contains sesquiterpene lactones (costunolide, dehydrocostus lactone) that reduce inflammatory cytokines and help calm systemic inflammation that drives fever and infection-related discomfort. It stimulates immune response while balancing excessive inflammation and is a great option for chronic fevers, bronchitis, and tuberculosis-like conditions. Saussurea acts as a carminative and digestive stimulant, reducing infection-related indigestion while supporting liver detoxification, aiding recovery during systemic infections. Next, we added Ginger. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a classic warming herb that supports the body in fighting fever and infection through its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulating properties. Ginger contains gingerols, shogaols, and zingerone, which show activity against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Ginger reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandins, helping calm fever-related inflammation. Its warming nature promotes sweating (diaphoretic action), which traditionally helps the body regulate temperature and “break” a fever. Ginger is ich in antioxidants that protect immune cells during infection. This enhances circulation and stimulates immune cell activity, supporting faster pathogen clearance. Oregon Grape Root was added because it is a bitter, antimicrobial herb traditionally used for infections, fevers, and “blood purification.” Its activity comes from Berberine. The berberine in Oregon grape root is strongly active against bacteria, fungi, and protozoa and used for respiratory infections, digestive infections, and skin eruptions. It stimulates white blood cell activity and enhances pathogen clearance which helps the body resist recurrent infections. Oregon grape root calms cytokine activity and oxidative stress, reducing systemic inflammation that drives fever and is useful for febrile conditions with digestive upset, sore throat, or skin inflammation.

Steep Me Glutathione Blend was also added. Glutathione plays a significant role in immune defense, detoxification, and inflammation control, making it highly supportive during infections that cause fever. Glutathione neutralizes reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated during infection and fever and protects immune cells from oxidative damage, allowing them to function more effectively. It supports T-cell and natural killer (NK) cell activity, which are critical for fighting viral and bacterial infections and helps balance immune responses—stimulating defense while preventing excessive inflammation. Glutathione modulates NF-κB and cytokine pathways, reducing the “cytokine storm” that can worsen fever and infection severity and calms systemic inflammation therefore glutathione indirectly helps regulate fever. Having low glutathione levels are linked to worse outcomes in respiratory infections (e.g., influenza, pneumonia, COVID-19) and having it added to this blend may improve symptoms and reduce viral replication. Next, we included Red Root. It is a traditional North American herb used for infections, fevers, and lymphatic congestion. Its benefits are mostly indirect—supporting immune function, detoxification, and circulation. It is a classic lymphagogue, stimulating lymphatic drainage and reducing congestion. During infection and fever, this helps clear cellular waste, microbial byproducts, and inflammatory debris. By improving lymph flow, red root enhances immune surveillance—allowing white blood cells to circulate more effectively. Red Root contains tannins and alkaloids that reduce inflammation in mucous membranes and help calm fever-related inflammation in the throat, lungs, and digestive tract. Betaine was included as a support herb to keep your body strong while fighting a fever or infection. Betaine dissociates into betaine and hydrochloric acid in the stomach. The added acid helps maintain a low gastric pH (1.5–3.5), which is critical for breaking down proteins and activating digestive enzymes. Adequate stomach acid improves absorption of iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin B12. These nutrients are essential for immune function, energy metabolism, and recovery during infection. A properly acidic stomach environment prevents bacteria, fungi, and parasites from surviving passage into the intestines. This reduces the risk of secondary infections and supports a balanced gut microbiome. Betaine acts as a methyl donor, helping regulate homocysteine levels and supporting liver detoxification. Efficient detox pathways are important during infection when inflammatory byproducts accumulate. Cat’s Claw  (Uncaria tomentosa) was also included because it is traditionally used to support the immune system and fight infections. Cat’s claw can increase white blood cell activity, enhancing the body’s ability to fight pathogens and boosts immune response while also calming overactive immunity. Cat’s claw contains alkaloids and tannins that exhibit antimicrobial activity and educes cytokine activity and oxidative stress, helping modulate the inflammatory response which is a definition of a fever. Next, we added Olive Leaf. Olive leaf (Olea europaea) has a long history in Mediterranean medicine as a powerful antimicrobial and immune-supportive herb. Olive Leaf is rich in oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol, compounds with strong antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activity which are shown to inhibit pathogens such as E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, influenza virus, and herpes simplex virus. It also  stimulates phagocytosis (immune cells engulfing pathogens) and enhances overall immune response which helps reduce the severity and duration of colds, flu, and other infections. Olive leaf reduces cytokine activity and oxidative stress, calming systemic inflammation that drives fever and makes it supportive in respiratory infections, sore throats, and febrile illnesses. In traditional folk medicine olive leaf is used to cool the body and lower fever and it can modulate fever indirectly by reducing inflammatory mediators.

We also added Celery Seed. Celery seeds contain apigenin, luteolin, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, and tannins, which help reduce systemic inflammation. Since fever is often driven by inflammatory cytokines, this modulation can indirectly ease fever symptoms. Traditional medicine (Ayurveda and Chinese medicine) used celery seed for respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and digestive disturbances. Its volatile oils and flavonoids show antibacterial and antifungal effects. Rich in calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and antioxidants, celery seed strengthens immune resilience, helping the body fight pathogens more effectively and acts as a natural diuretic, increasing urine output and helping flush toxins. This can support recovery during infection by reducing systemic burden and used to cool the body, ease inflammation, and support infection recovery. Steep Me Medicinal Mushroom Blend was included because they are powerful immune modulators and antimicrobial allies that help the body fight infections, the root cause of fever. Mushrooms contain beta-glucans that stimulate macrophages, NK cells, and T-cells that enhance pathogen clearance while balancing immune overactivation (important in feverish states). They contain compounds that show activity against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, show antiviral and antibacterial support and boosts resistance to viral infections. Mushrooms reduce cytokine storms and oxidative stress, calming systemic inflammation that drives fever. Medicinal Mushrooms are ich in selenium, zinc, vitamin D precursors, and antioxidants, which strengthen immune resilience during infection and are critical for fever recovery and tissue repair. Moringa was added because it is a powerful immune-supportive and antimicrobial plant that helps the body fight infections and recover from fever. In Ayurvedic medicine it is used to cool the body, reduce fever, and fight infections. Because it is rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, zinc, and iron, all critical for immune resilience and contains bioactive compounds (isothiocyanates, flavonoids, phenolic acids) that stimulate immune cell activity. Fever is often driven by inflammatory cytokines. Moringa reduces TNF-α, IL-6, and oxidative stress, helping calm systemic inflammation which indirectly supports fever resolution by addressing the underlying inflammatory burden. Moringa provides protein, amino acids, antioxidants, and minerals that strengthen the body during infection and helps restore energy and tissue repair after feverish illness. It was added because Coptis chinensis is a powerful antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and fever-modulating herb. It is best used for infections with high fever, diarrhea, or damp-heat conditions with high potency and bitter “cold” nature. Coptis chinensis (Huang Lian, “Chinese goldthread”) is traditionally used in Chinese medicine to fight fever and infection by “clearing heat,” detoxifying, and providing strong antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Coptis is classified as a bitter, cold herb used to reduce “heat” conditions such as high fever, restlessness, and inflammation and contains berberine which can lower fever by modulating inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandin pathways. Because Coptis contains berberine, palmatine, coptisine, and jatrorrhizine, it shows powerful activity against bacteria, fungi, and protozoa , it is effective against E. coli, Salmonella, Candida albicans, and even shows some antiviral activity (influenza, herpes simplex) and prevents biofilm formation and bacterial adhesion to mucous membranes, making it useful for gastrointestinal and respiratory infections.  Finally, Nagarmotha was also included. Because it has traditional use as a fever-reducing and infection-fighting herb, due to its antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. It also contains essential oils (cyperene, cyperol, patchoulenone) with activity against bacteria and fungi. Nagarmotha is rich in flavonoids and phenolic compounds that reduce cytokine activity and oxidative stress which helps calm systemic inflammation that often drives fever.
